@steven cellugi pure nonsense the faceless men's prices are world shattering: from several hundred thousands to millions of golden dragons for high ranked well protected targets, faceless men are not immortal as depicted in the show (such a big plot flaw that it isn't even worth talking about) or else jaquen wouldn't have paid back arya for his life, and as such can still be killed or at least repelled with heavily armed, coordinated and skilled guards. In other words, not only would getting those assassins out of price range for westeros (with the exception of tywin lannister perhaps) they were still not invincible, hiring assassins is the last thing an honorable man like ned stark would do, game of thrones wouldn't end with one death, everyone died among the powerful lords and strife was still as intense as ever.
@gebreknefekalmoradiss3785
@gebreknefekalmoradiss3785 5 жыл бұрын
@steven cellugi your words are very contradictory, we weren't even talking about robert's forces, we were talking about ned stark employing faceless men to alter the history of westeros, yes, robert would have defeated the lannisters with his proper forces (crownlands and stormlands) let alone with the other kingdoms, but why would he do that? If he knew about "his" children he would have executed cersei and jaime but didn't have the right to punish Casterly rock or tywin as he has no hand in this, tywin woud have hated robert because there would be no good descendant after jaime's death (tyrion not an option for him) but wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Most importantly ned stark only discovered that fact after robert went hunting so it didn't matter anymore, him not going to hunt if eddar agreed is doubtful since Robert hunted all the time. Lastly the faceless men's ability is extremely useful bit not against very skilled, armed and coordinated guards, and i repeat: COORDINATED, yes because modern troops have secret codes and mannerisms that make them recognize each others, such a thing isn't hard to implement in something like the kingsguard and would greatly decrease the face swapping's efficiency.
@gebreknefekalmoradiss3785
@gebreknefekalmoradiss3785 5 жыл бұрын
@steven cellugi there wasn't any need for a faceless man to kill Robert, any whore trained in poisons may have done the job, as for the last targaryen it seems too much overkill to hire a faceless man worth millions of gold coins to kill a little girl, even if it could have saved a lot of trouble they couldn't know that.

@Cody Garbrandt completely false, testicles are the main testosterone maker, but there are many other sources in the human body, without them, creating muscles would take much more training and time but it would still work out albeit more inefficiently, aggressiveness isn't a necessary emotions for unsullied whose organization and calm was more important than some reckless barbarism. There is no ground of comparison between the unsullied and the spartans, unsullied are slaves, the spartans are slavers, unsullied are conditioned to live and die for their masters, they have no will or desire of their own beside what was drilled into them from youth, spartans are trained as survivalists first then warriors with as much pride as their skill take them to and only have loyalty to themselves and to sparta, any child slave sold to the slave masters is turned into a unsullied trainee, only true spartan children were trained completely, the rest didn't have as complex and harsh of a training. In strength alone spartans probably surpass unsullied, unsullied have a much more rigid commanding while spartans had a more fluid and experience based commad chain. Ultimately even if spartans seems slightly better, they are not similar at all except both having the same base strategy (phalanx) and therefore the same weapons.

Their battle against the Sarnori most notably where 80,000 Dothraki completely obliterated 126,000 of the Sarnori "Tall Men" which were some of the best equipped soldiers in Essos at the time. They had Heavily armored shock cavalry, Infantry, Archers and Scythed Chariots which are hard counters to cavalry. Thanks for this dose of the World of GRRM. Became engrossed in the lands of Essos and Westeros last summer. Call myself a "gleaner" because all I know of the "Song of Ice and Fire" has come through this smartphone by way of Wikipedia and KZbin videos. Haven't yet seen a full episode of "Game of Thrones," let alone read a word of the novels. I'm not bragging: I know I haven't gotten the full experience. I took to the Unsullied immediately when I saw how Daenerys Stormborn liberated them and they pledged allegiance to her. Learning more about their history gave me more appreciation for them. It's been a year, and this tale had faded in memory. I saw the Unsullied defeated in another video last year, and I mourned a bit: they aren't invincible. Someone commented on this video that the Dothraki are a poor force due to tradition and unenlightened leadership. The Unsullied are similarly limited. However, I believe no one can question the courage of Dothraki or Unsullied. Thanks again.

libertinarey Honestly though every other character has made mistakes and paid huge prices for those mistakes. They also mostly win if they properly plan ahead, and if they lose george isn’t afraid to horribly punish them for it. Dany makes possibly the most mistakes and comes out on top anyways. Season 7 worked quite a bit like that too, I’m a huge fan of Jon but that entire battle was him abandoning all strategy and throwing away his chances (which I believe is out of character for him) only to be bailed out and get very lucky right in the nick of time. It is completely different from the rest of game of thrones and if that shit had happened in any other season Jon would either be dead or in a reek-like condition

So despite the Dothraki outnumbering the Unsullied by 6 to 1 before they fought, and despite 80% of the Unsullied falling in battle, the Dothraki lost over 5 times as many of their number, since 12000 Dothraki died compared to 2400 Unsullied. This ia due to several factors. The tactics, the discipline, and unity of the Unsullied greatly aided the phalanxes of the eunuchs. While the lack of cohesion, lack of effective maneuvering, and individual nature of fighting of the Dothraki, were huge detriments to their cavalry. So the "lesser men", whether you go by numbers, or by the GoT society's view of eunuchs, won decisively.

My only problem with Total War games, is tge fact that they never have the soldiers that use phalanx, lock their shields as it should look like.
@abuhajaar2533
@abuhajaar2533 5 жыл бұрын
You also have to understand that as battle goes on the fight becomes more disorganized and sloppy on both sides and enemy lines will be less inclined to just rush into a fight when they can’t single out a single enemy. They’ll want to wait for an opportunity to isolate one so the phalanx soldiers will have to take their own shots at the enemy too and then reform.
@abuhajaar2533
@abuhajaar2533 5 жыл бұрын
Kascio GG I’m just going to guess that the point of it was to get the combat to look more natural. One of my quarrels with phalanx units Although unrelated to what we just talked about is the lack of ability to keep them in perfect formation when you have to be the aggressor rather than just defend and wait for enemy to attack you. The unit versus unit attack system is what I’m talking about. If you take your phalanx line and want to attack the enemy line you have to do it one at a time and it breaks up your line depending on the locations of the units which is annoying. Or if the AI attacks you they all concentrate in pockets and not every phalanx unit gets combat. it looks gay too. To be able to get a good looking realistic battle with a phalanx line it takes coordination between players to purposefully do that. Especially if it’s two phalanx armies. Good luck. You have to line them up perfectly and just out of reach from each other and match each other’s units in pairs. Pause and attack.
@sosig6445
@sosig6445 5 жыл бұрын
@@abuhajaar2533 The combat doesn't even look more natural... just observe them for longer periods of time, They pick an opponent (not even the closest one) look each other in the eyes for like 20 fuckin' seconds doing nothing and then roll the dice and an animation plays and if both survives they disengage and repeat this with someone else like lifeless animatronics programmed to repeat the same 3 animations (Block, attack, die) OVER AND OVER, and the fact that they wait up to an entire minute not doing anything enbetween these animations just makes this worse... Rome 1 engine had bad animations but it was dynamic at least. You had your shield walls clashing with the enemy, properly use their weapons to regurarly attack and not just stand around, if they saw a comrade in help they would engage agains the enemy together and ovewhelm them from multiple sides, cavarly charges had actual impact, and units had weight, always pushing at the enemy shaping the battle from a straight line into a crescent of death.

#SODA# Sapis idk if DEI changes anything but I have other mods too in Rome II and I get pretty dynamic battles. I know what your talking about though with the 1v1 fight. It’s a work in progress. I’ll be playing total war for years to come. Although I don’t like the recent fictional total war games releasing.

To be fair, there were quite a lot of those dead guys, and it is stated that the Dothraki deliberately didn't flank the Unsullied in this story. Still doesn't excuse the really dumb decisions made by the Unsullied/Dothraki commanders in Ep 3, though. Giant fiery spike pit -- good idea. Putting it in the only path of your main army's retreat -- bad idea...

I'm still surprised/triggered that despite all the years of GOT, SEGA didn't develop *Total War: Seven Kingdoms* aka GOT Total War or even an official Third Age Total War but instead made Total War: Warhammer, a series most people don't even care about.

Cool video. Did not know this part of Essos history. Only problem I have with it occurs at about the 6:00 minute point, when the Dothraki first contact the Unsullied phalanx and the impact of the horse seems to throw their formation into instant disarray, and hurl men back. Assuming that physics works the same way in their world as it does in ours...in our history this is not what happens in such a situation. A disciplined force like the Unsullied hold formation, brace their spears (or pikes) against the ground, and the onrushing horses and riders impale themselves. The shock of the impact may cause some of the spear-shafts to snap, and the occasional horse might break through the shieldwall into the interior of the formation, where, surrounded and unarmored, they will be cut down. As effectively as the video shows the Unsullied defeating them, the reality would be even worse. Such formations were only defeated in real life by patient opponents willing to avoid contact and wear them down with missle fire (arrows, slings, javelins) or by well-drilled heavy infantry employing the tactics developed by the Romans: the hurled pilum just before contact to disrupt their formation, followed by melee with the large Scutum shield (twice the size of what the Unsullied use) and the Gladius short sword. Once such a force is past the thrusting point of the pikes, into short range, the spearmen lose the advantage of their weapon's greater reach, and are forced to drop it and employ whatever side-arm they carry. And inevitably a force of spearmen were trained first and foremost to use their spear as their primary weapon...while Roman-style fighters focused on the sword. Contrary to the portrayal in almost all movies, they did not break formation and engage in a series of one on one duels, with lots of sword swings and parrying. The Roman's remained in a tight close-order formation, shields side by side, with just enough space between for them to stab with their short swords...they were primarily used as stabbing weapons. But Cavalry attempting to break such a formation with a charge into melee? Not going to happen.
