Read The Dying Earth around 55 years ago and loved it. Since then I've encountered a smattering of Vance's work in novella form-- Dragon Masters, Gift of Gab, Last Castle, all outstanding. You now have me hankering for more Cugel (and less cowbell.) I wasn't aware of the Shea conncection to JV. Always looked forward to his quirky s-f/horror tales in F & SF magazine thru the 80s.

Irrelevant I know, but I’ve just ordered a selection of short stories just published by NYRBC called The Bewitched Bourgeois by Dino Buzzati. He’s an interesting one! But I’m sure you’ve already read him. Great episode. Must read some Vance!
