Battle of the Bulge, Episode 15, The Beech Tree

On 23 December, Combat Command B of the 4th Armored Division captured the town of Chaumont, Belgium. As it secured the objective, a German counterattack led by Tiger tanks put the Americans on the run. The defenders of Bastogne had to continue to hold on by a thread.

I am in Westfield BTW. Heading out West Wednesday night for some work on the Indian Wars. Also, heading to the LBH and the Rosebud in late June. I have a place to park along Reno Creek next to the Lone Tipi (Teepee) site. My good buddy from High School has discovered a number of Civil War campsites in the Dakotas and has uncovered a treasure trove of artifacts.

Doubt 4 Jagd's (if from the 653rd) could make that 12 mile trip towards Chaumont with at least some of them breaking down or being abandoned along the way from Eschdorf or even abandoned at the battle scene. It had to be a platoon of Tiger II's that had to be staged somewhere half way. Such strange geography in this region French and German named towns all sprinkled together
