carlolf He’s playing the bands shared Strat in the music video for Need Your Love So Bad filmed at the BBC. It’s fairly safe to assume that it was recorded on a strat too, especially since it sounds like that thin bridge single coil of a strat. I really doubt that Oh Well was recorded on a strat since that song is one of the best examples of Peters quacky out of phase pickup tone

That is because the strat is normally used for less gainy music, which is more influenced by blues, but, for example, slash's solos have a shooting amount of feel and they are hard hard rock stuff but also influenced by blues

Yeah but Les Paul has Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, some Stones, Gary Moore, ZZ Top, Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, KISS, Def Leppard, Bonamassa, Duane Allman, The Who, Aerosmith, Sex Pistols, Clapton also used a lot of Les Pauls, Zappa, Rush, Green Day, Eagles, Pearl Jam, Metallica. Les Paul wins easy

LP is thick and creamy. Strat has more attack and more twang. I'd choose the LP for blues and rock. If I were to just noodle around at home I'd go for strat. I usually set LPs at bridge pickup and strats at neck pickup.
