Interesting how much less chaff there is than what I typically build. Given that I am much lower rank than you two, maybe I've actually taken the "build more chaff!" advice a bit too much into heart.

It's an interesting balance for sure. The goal of chaff is to win the chaff war. When your carry units are shooting their carry units, and their carry units are shooting your chaff. That means the amount of chaff you need depends on YOUR chaff clear, and their chaff clear. at 16:20, Stoney mentions "it comes down to chaff" and the next thing he buys is 2 more volcans. Sure, he could have added 3 more units of chaff, but 2 more vulcans will help him win the chaff war MUCH more than 3 units of chaff would.

Seems to me that as you can overreact with counters by overdoing them, you can also overdo the chaff war; that is, the best situation you have is when you just barely win the chaff war and your medium/giant units have a few seconds of free time to damage opponent mediums/giant units, while your opponent is still clearing the tails of your chaff. But if you overdo the chaff war, you might end up in a situation where your mediums and giants just don't do enough damage, even tho they get free shots in. That seems to be a general thing with this game; do just enough, but no more. Which is pretty cool.

@zerex8375 got it right! it's not about MORE CHAFF, it's about LONGER LASTING CHAFF than your opponent so you can get earlier shots on the carry units.

@@tzaeru Ya, this game is super fun because of that. It doesn't matter how much you win the Chaff war if you have nothing that can scratch their carry fortress or life steal Melters. But if you have the beefiest level 4 Warfactory, but all it gets to shoot are chaff units, you would be better off with a Vulcan. It is super fun to try and balance each game.
