This is the number one reason why I quit games like Valhalla & Origins and never came back. It is artificially infinite content of the lowest effort tied to sloppily-made "radiant quests" that are plain boring to do with a variety that breaks apart after 3 repeats. They make purchase-only cosmetics which after a while surpass the quantity of the ones offered in the base game, then have you logging back in routinely like a dog hoping a free bone you like will finally drop for you to go chase. Then you thank them for it. Every single game that has had this system has either plain boring gameplay, little variety replayable content, or both. They don't respect your time cause if they did, they'd have made more effort in at least one of the two issues I described above. Instead they want you logging back in daily like a slave so that they can boast about how their games are still relevant, cause people are technically still playing them daily (even if its for 5 minutes). This planned system has been going on since Origins, a system that was kinda excusable in F2P games but now copied over to your AAA games. This has kept happening because we've been allowing it. I quit just about every game that has had a battle pass system and boy let me tell you... I've never felt better. Have some self respect, if offending multiple cultures and their long-time customers wasn't enough, they were already keeping a battle pass in store for AC Shadows' release. They don't care about you, stop supporting them.

there is no "good" reason to have a battle pass in any game it just shows company are more worried about putting out half baked games and more content for purchase, AC shadows is seventy dollars plus if they do a battle pass every 4 months roughly costing ten dollars. yes the first season may be free but knowing ubisoft that will only be the first season. The only way this becomes acceptable is if they take a note from 343 as much as halo has done wrong their battle pass system is top tier. but in the end its just going to be a cash grab for lack luster items.

My main concern at this point is that there won't be a coherent story for ACS and it instead will be a collection of side missions all strung together via the Animus Hub that you have to complete during different seasons in order to move to the next, or something like that.

That's why they choose making battle pass. i belive it will make us able to complete the battle pass with playing any AC games like Shadows or Hexe for example. so its not like different game has different battle pass. but battle pass will be use for all games. cosmetics probably for multiplayer since they dont explain to us the reward costume will be used by Yasuke or naoe which means its for our multiplayer character meanwhile you could use the "keys" to buy part of paid costumes in their stores to be used in single player like you want to buy hood for Naoe or armor for Yasuke or costume for AC Hexe protagonist and even Edward in AC Black Flag Remake

Why don't Ubisoft just take a look at the studios that crush it in sales? BG3, Elden Ring, No Mans Sky. Three examples of huge successful games with NO DLC, NO MICROTRANSACTIONS. first and foremost , the game looks beautiful and i hope it sells well against all this nonsensical backlash that has a dangerous potential to become harmful. Regarding battlepass : The game like every ac will have tons of content so you will get more than your moneys worth. Now if you still need more, it is completely fair from them to ask for a price. The problem is that plenty of people expect to get a lot for free because spending money nowadays hurts and because feeling underprivileged of not beeing able to spend hurts even more (thus the backlash)
