Great review! I really like them all. It comes down to the Koaloa or Romero Creations. I find it very hard to choose, but I find myself being drawn to the Tiny Tenor 6. Mango or Koa. I'd like to have both!

Out of the 3 I’d go with the Kanile’a. I did like the Romero but I’m not a fan of the pineapple shape. It’s personal preference and I know some people like that. It sounded great though. I have a tenor guitarlele but I’m struggling finding the hybrid strings. What strings is the Kanile’a using? I need to replace mine.

Thanks for your great review. Could you please indicate if any of those instruments that you demo’d have truss rods? I’m coming down from a classical guitar and I have owned guitaleles in my past that do not have truss rods and I am always having to deal with an out of tune instrument. This is of course frustrating and not an option for my next purchase. I realize traditionally, guitaleles do not have truss rods but I understand the climate is changing on that. Could you comment?

I have both koaloha and kanilea. The koaloha is the one I use the most. I use slack key tuning on the kanilea. I've been using classical guitar strings on both. Are there string sets for guitarleles? I hate to waste the extra string length.

All three sound great. I lean more Kanilea as I have a super Tenor that I really love. The Romero and Koaloha sound great too. Why can't I have one of each? :-) I like the convenient size of the Koaloha and the neck sizing as well.

I had to listen more than once. As much as I generally love KoAloha, I thought this one was more "lele" than "guitar". Which is a perfectly legit sound if that's what you're looking for; personally I'm not. That's _not_ to say anything at all negative about the KoAloha's quality; this is purely a matter of taste. Personally I thought the Romero and the Kanile'a were really close, but on average and to my ears the Kanile'a sounded better when strummed and the Romero when played fingerstyle. I'm mainly a fingerstylist, so the Romero would get the nod from me. They're all top-notch instruments, though.

Plays them too shrill, with the edge of the nail. So they all sound equally cheap. Would be nice to see some finger picking. People looking up these videos care very little about all the specs (we can read/see that online), we just want to hear them for a solid 2 or 3 minutes each, preferably strumming+finger picking the same exact song across them all. There should be more playing than talking for these videos to add value.
