Remember, these are not regular clones. They are free thinkers. Tarkin saw them do this, a scenario he probably designed to make the clones fail, and they still beat it. Regular clones would not do that. So, he recommends that the clones be phased out. Problem is, who is to say that normal people would perform as well.

@nicholasgutierrez994015 күн бұрын
Well... the thing is that the Republic armed forces and the Imperial armed forces are two entirely different things. The Republic was mostly planetary defense forces before the Clone Wars. Hence why Dooku said "It doesn't seem possible" after witnessing the Clone army at Geonosis in Episode 2. The Clones were an elite force, only deployed to high stakes battlefields and specialty roles. It's just not shown that much since we focus almost exclusively on the big battles. The Empire had to severely reduce the autonomy of all sectors in the galaxy except for a few like Hutt Space. Planets weren't allowed to keep local forces since they could easily turn rebel. A lot of the post Order 66 battles were about wiping out the remaining Separatist holdouts. So Tarkin had to make a case for creating a galactic wide army instead of a small, elite force that would be dispatched to special battlefields. He actually made the right call. You see even in this series, the clones are training their stormtrooper replacements to be the spearhead. Albeit less elite, but far more numerous in order to keep the emperor's peace. Meanwhile planetary forces were dismantled and reorganized into the Imperial army. So Tarkin saw the benefits of having an elite force of free thinkers, but didn't think they would make a good galactic wide replacement. Vader's Fist was made up of his own personal division of clone troopers in addition to newer officers. Stormtroopers are elite, but not raised from birth to fight. Against normal rebel forces with no plot armor, they decimate them 1v1. AKA the Hoth invasion. It was mostly the infighting between Imperial forces post-Endor and really dumb decisions by officers that doomed the Empire. It was better after the Clone Wars to have a stable, yet not as effective fighting force to maintain peace. Otherwise you get the Byzantines. Nobody wants to be the Byzantines.

Depends on the regular clones you're talking about. I'm sure a few of the named ones we've come to know during the previous series could make it out of this situation.

You dont need this effectiveness to stand around and intimidate civilians (or shoot at them). Stormtroopers are just as good at doing that as Clones are. And Civilians are just as scared when facing a Stormtrooper than they are when facing a Clone. But you can get significantly more Stormtroopers for the same money as you can get Clones.

@@xxnightdriverxx9576Quality over quantity though, and it’s not like rebellion was happening in any large numbers
@xxnightdriverxx957628 күн бұрын
@@johannthedeceitful5968you missed the point. The Stormtroopers / TK Troopers were NOT intended to fight a rebellion. They were a tool to make sure a rebellion never broke out in the first place, or if it does, it is small and rare. It is easy to attack imperial buildings, installations and transports when there are no soldiers and guards around to protect them. And a few untrained, angry civilians with shovels as weapons can do that and will do so if they are unhappy. But if you post just two soldiers with blasters and minimal training there, that will discourage 99% of all civilians from ever doing anything against the empire. With Clones, you can't do that because you don't have enough of them.

This is funny, the Bad Batch performed well and with no difficulty when it was just training rounds or in another sense an even playing field. But when the odds were so against them during the live rounds and was caught by surprise they won and survived, then Tarkin said nope clones are no good when the thing he was looking for the Empire that would have win against the Rebellion in the future. Most of the Empire’s armies have been fcked by rebellion’s guerilla tactics or situations that gave the Empire some poor odds against them similar to the live rounds part.

I don’t think the decision truly rested on Tarkin’s shoulders. The Emperor felt that the loyalty of the clones would always be put into question. Also the close call with some of clones having defective chips almost activating or outright mutinying after order 66. They were also super expensive to make and maintain more so than the droid army. Not to mention extremely unpopular with members of the public. Using an imperial army consisting of conscripts, and volunteers would be more cost effective. Then using the clones to transition to storm troopers which originally were the cream of the crop in terms of imperial training and technology.
@rory8182Ай бұрын
the problem with the clones is that they worked with the Jedi and saw no examples of the "treason" that they did, and all were aware of Order 66's existance. With them around it was only a matter of time

The Clones were effective soldiers to every extent the Empire needed. Even discounting The Bad Batch, most Clone regiments were battle hardened and had not only flash training, but actual combat experience across the board (fighting droids, local fauna, environmental training, and soldiers/rebellions). I'll continue to say that the Tarkin Doctrine murdered everything the Empire was, and Tarkin himself was a moron with too much power. They sacrificed a tempered and well liked military force to create a faceless army of yes-men with officers that would frequently try to use others as stepping stones to reach greater heights, killing any chance of the Empire lasting longer than 50 years (things started collapsing day one, and without any special outliers, I'm being generous).
