Thank you for testing this. These are currently only $59 for the 10x12 and $69 for the 11x14. I picked up the 11x14 iiia package for $125 that includes the carrier and bought one of these to throw on top of the iiia flexible plate so I have 2 panels in the front. I'm not sure if it will help decrease back-face deformation or not but it doesn't add much weight and I figured if it can help I'd rather take the extra 1 lb and have it do nothing if it doesn't work or potentially help save internals. I bought a few of these to leave in the vehicles as it's an extremely inexpensive option (around $100 for the carrier package) to have in an unforeseen emergency situation. I bought these at botach.

Quite the value. My light vest is triple layer with two soft and one hard IIIa per side. My heavy vest is double layer with one soft IIIa and one IV ceramic per side.

I like the armor tests, but it would be interesting to see how much damage really happens from the deformation. Perhaps a collaberation with IV8888 on some armor tests using one of those upper torso gelatin with the bones and simulated organs inside. Sure some of these rounds are stopped, but I can't help but wonder with the backface deformation, how that still wouldn't cause some massive trauma or still cause death.

Great review! The 460 Smith & Wesson in my opinion is far superior to the 500. It's a far better hunting cartridges and way easier on the hands.

I bought some of these a while back. They seem good to go and are very affordable. I've been hounding them to make side plates in 3a+ so that I don't have to use militech ones. I can't stand hard side plates, never use them, but soft armo is perfect for cumberbunds

After seeing what that .460 did, I want to watch some trauma plate reviews. If you want to take advantage of the ability of these advanced soft armors to resist more powerful rounds, I think you need a trauma plate if you don't want a round to take you out of the fight. You might survive, but you could also be too wounded to run and fight after such brutal blunt force trauma and might need to be carried away to a hospital. That could get you killed. I've seen some pretty impressive lightweight trauma plates, new foam technologies and whatnot, and they'll surely make a big difference with soft armor.

Price has increased to $89 for 10x12 and $99 for 11x14. Still worth it though. I have level 3a soft and some heavy steel plates. My carrier is pretty heavy when carrying to potentially stop rifle rounds. I have wondered if stacking the 3a and 3a+ would stop a 7.62x39? The less weight I can carry and be able to move quicker and efficiently, the better. Looking for something I can do burpees in and not break the bank lol. The ability to get down and up quickly is important.

It’ll stop it. I tested the regular 3A panel against the 9mm civil defense. And green tip SS198 5.7 out of a FN57 stopped both fairly well

Check out CarrabineQuarterMasterArmor if you want good armor for a good price. I shot their 3a armor with a 6.5 Carcano and it stopped it. It will also stop 5.7 and some other rifle rounds.

I picked up a set for my plate carrier for work got mine through Botach Tactical got mine fine and fast. Friend ordered the same stuff and 2 months later still not there.. they said they shipped it.. they did but not only to the wrong state but to the east coast instead of the west coast.. maybe they will take responsibility and fix it? Genuine question. I know sectional density matters when penetrating. But we always bee. Told that speed defeats armor. How come the 300 blackout subsonic can do it. Doesnt deform the bullet as much? Not talking and plate or ceramic armor either.

No penetration on the 460, but you would most likely still die from that impact... it's well beyond the lethal deformation levels.
