I think it has to do with the baseline of the original song being so catchy (and the main melody is extremely strong too). I can actually hear the baseline notes better in these low-fi remixes.

We could only wish this was on the 64. But if it couldnt fit 7 on there, how could expect to hold a game so advance as FFX? Maybe NGC could?

Even if it got onto the GameCube, FF7 would still have required two GameCube mini-DVD discs, as NGC mini-DVDs can store a little more than double the space of original PS1 discs (1.46 GBs vs 660 MBs). Pretty much every mainline FF game would have required at least two GameCube mini-DVDs if they got ports to the GameCube like Resident Evil 2 & 3 did.
