All these bots that defeated riptide have one thing in common.... Durability. Riptides weapon is amazing but when faced with bots that can withstand blows from it, riptide gets COOKED.

exactly, i always value durability over everything else. i don't mean just bots, i mean EVERYTHING, cars, computers, chairs ..etc. years ago i bought a "gaming chair" that is suppose to be tough right? after 6 months a wheel broke off .. and couple years one arm rest broke in half and i'm not someone who treats stuff wrong, i wasn't sitting or leaning on it, i was resting my arm on it while playing and my arms don't weight 100kg. it was just garbage design. i patched it up with pieces of metal bars and wood, it's been holding for 5+ years since. doesn't look pretty, but who cares? it's comfy and durable!

Wrong, defender and sawblaze both have forks that can flip riptide over you could mount thos forks on a plastic cube with wheels and the same thing would of happened, copperhead basically just won by luck and durability.

I'd been looking for the Copperhead fight since I had heard it had beaten Riptide, didn't know Sawblaze beat them as well. The robot itself is actually pretty phenomenal, I won't deny that, it's the team that I have a problem with, like many people, especially with what they did to Captain Shrederator. So nice to see these guys get humbled just like everyone else.

You can beat Riptide in 3 ways 1. Overpower their weapon just like what Bloodsports did in the Vengeance in Vegas 2. Tank their hits until the weapon dies out like what Copperhead did 3. Outdrive them and dont let them use the weapon like what Sawblaze and Defender did

I’d like to see a lot more match ups like that, I think it should be a condition of entering two bots that you have to fight them against each other in the qualifiers (and it should be early on so you don’t get one team losing tactically, as I suspect happened with Tantrum and Blip). Emulsifier vs Shatter, RIPperoni vs Starchild, Gigabyte vs Cobalt etc.

As we saw from the first two fights, thick doorstop style forks are the way to go, they can deflect the energy of the eggbeater back into their own bot. Whenever next season happens, hopefully other builders will catch on so Riptide doesn't demolish the field like they did last time.

riptide have 2 issues: 1. They arent durable enough. In long fights they weared out if the start they arent dominant or they facing pretty durable opponents. 2. They have major weakness in the design we can see few times they can't get back up if they facing the side/upside down. While I do understand they are more focused to ram attack and locking the opponents easier also dont have too many moving parts your weapon is unlikely to get jammed. But if the opponents faster (Copperhead) and have things to topple them to this positions (a lot of robot can do that tho). Nothing they can do if that happens. Other than that, its pretty solid robot.

Riptide is a great machine, very powerful but the it's the team that are the major problem. they have NO respect for other people's robots and they are just sore losers when they do lose and disrespectful. Plus they just continue to attack immobile bots even when their opponents tell them they're done. If Riptide was controlled by another, more respectful and kind team, I'd root for them. But I cannot root for them if it's current team are just toxic, pieces of trash.

Wow riptide in the 1st 2 fights really had no ground control whatsoever and that 3rd fight, not sure what the team complained about tbh, even if they did get to the final, It would just be another easy win for Sawblaze. i can see so many flaws on riptide ... with my engineering, it could be unbeatable! 1) spinner design needs to be different, it needs to be between blunt and cutter. there was one bot in NHRL that had a spinner just like it and it literally ripped bots into pieces after just 1-2 "touches". you need to spread those parts out on spinner and make it in a way that it CAN cut thru certain materials, but blunt enough to still apply lot of kinetic energy aswell. their current weapon has speed and weight, but it's too blunt. all that energy is spread out too much and when it spins too fast it just turns into a grinder and won't do any damage. 2) it keeps getting stuck on side, this is easily fixable by adjusting the side and/or top design. the top part i refer to, is the weapon mount, add a metal bar that goes from top to the side, curved upwards, so when it lands on side, it will roll onto its back instead. 3) lacks durability, i don't know how people can't make durable things nowdays anymore. not just talking about bots, i mean everything .. cars, computers, chairs, tables ... it's all made so flimsy and fragile. i mean look at BUMPERS on nowday cars .. some piece of plastic and breaks in half after BUMPING into something. a BUMPER was originally designed for BUMPING into things without taking any damage, hence the word "BUMPER" .. but nowday people TWIST that word and think that bumper is decorative item on car .. WRONG! look at greeder musk and his te$la .. 20k for replacing a bumper that breaks after someone barely touches it. 80s cars have proper BUMPERS. learn to build people! if i had money to build a bot, first thing i'd do, is make a design that can't get stuck in position where its not able to self right. second thing, i'd make sure that speed controllers and motors are able to work under 100% load for 10+ mins without breaking. don't use motors or speed controllers that are not able to take the load. finally make proper connectors and wiring that doesn't overheat or break after couple of hits. i'm 100% confident i can build a much better bot than riptide. i think carbide is my all time favorite, don't really have anything to say about it. i remember they lost to nuts 2 once, cuz it got a lucky hit on their chain and then wheel, but next match they already fixed it by adding a small protective shield. but riptide .. they flipped and they won't fix the issue, they're probably like "ahh it was a fluke never gonna happen again"
