New Weapon: The Lebel Rifle 1886 is a Scout Rifle from 'they shall not pass' dlc
Lebel 1886 Infantry: can be unlocked by getting 50 kills with the Gewehr M.95 Infantry, and 20 spot flare assists
Lebel 1886 Sniper: can be unlocked by getting 5 headshots in a round with the Russian 1895 sniper variant, and by performing 10 periscope spot assists.

Finally!!! Someone who can explain why the gun reloads that way, I never actually noticed the chambered round fly out when you do a tactical reload before, explains why the animation looks broken when it's not, looks like you're reloading a 9th bullet, but it's just being replaced by the one lost from the chamber. Thanks, that's been bugging me for a while

Yh, its due to having a tubular magazine. The French were retared when they made the Lebel and didn't put in a lifter or some shit, my Grandfather was a reservist (I'm French) in the 50's and told me about it recently.

Magazine-fed rifles were still on the horizon when the Lebel came about. Not "retarded," just the only solution they came up with at the time.

Box magazines have a patent from the 1860s. I don't think it was a magazine issue but feeding issue, as the tubular magazine is what makes the lebel a magazine fed rifle. the Mannlicher 1885 uses the enbloc clips which were the first wide spread use of clip fed magazines. the 1890s saw the rise of stripper clips which are much faster than one at a time loading. It was a limitation of loading technology at the time but this can be attributed to the firing procedures of the armies which can be seen through the enfiled rifles over time since some wanted to command single fire and not fire 5 rounds as fast as possible but 1 at a time towards the enemy.

@@Y34RZERO the tube magazine also came about from the design of the 8mm Lebel cartridge. The tapered case exists because the french wanted to use some of the same tooling they had from the 11mm blackpowder cartridge. The lebel round is a necked down modification of that cartridge, and was not conducive to box magazine operation...this is why the chauchat magazine is a big semi-circle...that's how the rounds stack together. It seems the french wanted to rearm their military as quick as possible, and this rifle in this chambering is how they managed to do that.

On the reload: wait until the counter says 8 rounds, then switch to your secondary and back really fast, and you skip the long reload.

I love the sound of the rifle,and last bullet animation,clear sight,but reload takes forever,especially k bullets reload,I have fun playing with this rifle,but when my assault team mates go to destroy tank I need fast k bullets reload to help them,so for aggressive approach as scout m95 better choice.

You want to know something mind blowing? This gun rattles like a bb gun. I mean the bullets rattle around inside the ammo tube making noise. This is at least what I have heard. It only happens if the rifle is shaken around or to certain motions while you use it. This might have been annoying and stressful in certain situations. I do not think it was enough you could not manage or circumvent. I think there were a much other stuff that could be of a concern to give you away. (like the sound of the bullet firing)

Toggle reload before the last bullet gets in and you can skip last 2-3 seconds of reloading the thing. Makes the gun even more awesome that what it already is. Lebel Inf. is my go-to weapon almost everytime.

it was possible to load 10 rounds in the lebel: 8 in the magazine, one on the loader, 1 engaged ready to fire, and in standard combat ,did the soldiers not use the magazine who was hold ready to stop a ennemy assault: they load shot per shot...

CorsairGames yes and no. While the Bertier was a more modern rifle I think the French army without the Lebel in this game would have been a mistake. I just hope Dice does us all a favor and drops some free dlc rifles in the game, just some random guns we all want to see, Japan, Belgium and Spain all made great guns and the pool is already way to small in the base game. Two or three variations of the same gun is not the same as the shitload of guns we had in BF4 and that's without the DLC

Speaking of the Japanesse rifles Jim, I'm wondering if in the 3rd or 4th DLC they will add the Ariasaka 38, and for the Germans the Mauser M1896. Wonderful rifles in 6.5mm. to sum up my comment, the Lebel model 1886 should have at least been the 1886/92 variant. It was obsolete on so many levels.

If you double tap Y to change weapons you can skip the last few animation frames of a full reload. As soon as your ammo counter hits 8 double tap change weapon to cancel reload animation and save a lot of time in tactical situations

my personal favorite cause of the sound and skins for it. i personally dont mind the reload youd be surprised that going into battle to quickly will just get you killed and possibly those extra seconds where your reloading might save you when you looking around instead of just running. I always found myself getting less deaths with the lebel and i think its from the long reload time. Ill admit its not always the case but sticking your head out all the time to shoot just attracts other snipers. The long reload might even get other snipers to take their sights away from where you are cause you took forever to reload in a battlefield setting and next thing you know you see he aint aiming where you are anymore so you in turn kill him. Just my experience

The second bolt ISN'T necessary, it takes about 2 seconds for the second bolt, while once you put the first bullet in, you can switch to secondary and back really fast, taking less time.

I've always wondered about the reload ... You say you've to sacrifice the already existing bullet in the chamber, but pretty sure that in reality if you held your hand on the bolt when opening it, you could simply press the bullet to lower the elevator it's standing on, push that bullet into the tube and add the missing ones, then close the bolt, reopen to have the elevator raise, place another bullet on the elevator and close the bolt. Judging by the tactical reload anim where the char places the 8th bullet onto the elevator, this should be doable. Not many bolt-actions allow mag+1.
