It's nice to see so many WW2 historians in the comment section. Guys, the Nazis designed a jetpack in blueprints in WW2 but it was obviously never deployed. This expansion is simply meant to showcase what WW2 would be like if such technology was actually invented and deployed during the war

Nah the jet fighter had its first flight in 1948 and it was later canceled.The stealth bomber was developt in the 40s but its first flight was in 1947.

Fun little history lesson for those who don't know. The reason the jetpack's in there is because america had something like putting infantry on flying platforms but the reason they didn't even go through with it is because if you shot the thing that lifted you in the air you'd plummet to your death. It turned infantry into bigger targets but it was likely too hard to code so they did jetpack. Really wish they coulda done anti-tank dogs. That woulda been funny.

In my headcannon, this game takes place in a 'What-If' timeline. A fun idea. Basically, what if WW2 either lasted for much longer than it did in reality? Or what if the technology advanced much faster than normal. Thus giving us even the jetpack.

I know many people trash on the jetpack, but as far as I know it was only in 3 maps, and it was still a lot of fun to use. Most of the things in this expansion were inaccurate. The XF-85, the AW52 and the Ho-229 never flew in combat, Sturmtigers were extremely rare and only saw a few engagements, and the Wasserfall rocket didn't have a camera feed, and it too never saw combat. Yes, the jetpack is pure fiction, but at this point it can be excused.

The reason for the expansion was because of what WW2 would've looked like had these vehicles and weapons were deployed in war beyond their prototype phase. There was a patent for an early jetpack that was thought up in 1919, but never was really built or tested.

Actually, the Germans really designed a Jetpack during WW2, it was called Himmerlsturmer , but it wasn't exactly meant to enable soldiers to fly, instead, it was supposed to make them jump further. But there was a problem: Fuel. The Jetpack used large amounts of oxygen and a propellant to generate trust, but a soldier could only carry a very limited amount of the propellant, so the flight time was minimal, and couldn't be increased. Also, there was still an issue with the oxygen, so, besides the fuel, and the jetpack itself, it was necessary to carry a tank of liquid oxygen. It didn't look like the one in the game, but still, it was a real thing, so I guess the game's still correct.
