Twisted steel is not Nijmegen bridge, but 'a bridge' crossing the Lys/Leie river. You can see proof on the map: there are roadsigns to French and Belgian cities that wouldn't make sense if it's set in Nijmegen, Holland. The map is also part of the French grand operation. It's possible that the bridge is moddeled after the bridge in Nijmegen, but the map certainly isn't set there.

@AgentBO6 жыл бұрын
Ok, I live in Nijmegen so let's set all the points straight. -In the prologue of the game you see the Nijmegen Waal Bridge, that's the bridge seen in the game. -The bridge AKA-ART zooms in on in google maps at the beginning of the video is the railway bridge(that one is the other of two bridges during WWII, we have 3 bridges now) and is not featured directly in the game. -The twisted steel bridge also has more then one arc which non of the bridges in Nijmegen have, also the visual style during that time was really popular. -The Waal bridge with it's oval arc is the most famous one and was a bigger focus point during Operation Market Garden because it is much wider and is much better for supply soldiers and armor since it actually has a road while the other bridge was just a railway. Know it's a long post with a bit too much info but there are a lot of"I am Dutch or from Holland, so I know what I'm talking about" while many of them really don't.

The bridge in Twisted Steel, isn't Nijmegen. It is featured in the prologue War Story as "Nijmegen", but it isn't much resemblant. Nijmegen bridge is a single arch bridge, while this one has two. Also, the map is obviously set somewhere else, between France and Belgium. Also, there is not Nijmegen city to be seen. The in game model may have been partly inspired to Nijmegen for the non-destroyed truss arch (the non-destroyed arch also features a truss "gallery" before the arch that is not present in the real life bridge), but that's all the similarity. There were a lot of truss bridges in Europe, like the Arnhem Bridge or the Ludendorff bridge at Remagen just to name a couple that were theatre of important operations during WWII. Or the Wilhelm bridge in the Rotterdam map. Also, if this can help with recognizing the location, "Devastation" is set around the real life Grote of Sint-Laurenskirk, erroneously called the "cathedral" of Rotterdam in game (it is actually a protestant church). It is featured in the photos of the destroyed city, although the belltower wasn't as destroyed as it is in game. Another interesting info, the city in "The Last Tiger" War Story is probably based on Cologne. The truss bridge is definitely based on the real life Hohenzollern bridge. You may want to search for the real life tank battle of the Cologne cathedral, not very important in itself, but extremely well documented. Sadly, they have recycled the model of the Rotterdam "cathedral", instead a creating a new one based on the medieval gothic Cologne's Cathedral (which looks entirely different). Thanks for the video, it was very interesting to see!

Hate to ruin the party but Twisted Steel is based on a location in France, not Nijmegen. You can read that here www.ea.com/nl-nl/games/battlefield/battlefield-5/news/battlefield-5-twisted-steel-map You can tell by the elevated/rough terrain; Nijmegen's environment is almost entirely flat and there's not really a swamp near the bridge. Nijmegen is in the Singleplayer intro though, so that's probably where the confusion came from.

Rapeseed was cultivated in France way before WW2, so it's safe on that side. Arras isn't a very big city. My family is from there and my grandfather still lives near the center. It's absolutely gorgeous during spring with all the flowers and birds. There's rapeseed cultivated around the city so it's believable. Although it looks like a small village near Arras, something like Roclincourt looks like the village depicted in the game. I'm really glad that Dice decided to depict early battles.
