Nice report. We play mainly 700 point games though at the end of August we're playing a 1300 point 2 day game from Kursk at our local clubs convention.

Thanks. I haven't played many battles outside this series, but they have been 500-750 points, except the one 1500 point game. That one lasted the whole day. I might try to film a large battle one day, but that will take some planning.

How did you like the bigger game? (Can’t recall you playing 600pts before.) By the way, very open terrain. I currently play a lot of Overlord: Battle Beyond the Beaches. Normandy has a lot of hedges, woods and villages. Which make for a lot of line of sight puzzles…

We've been steadily increasing the size of the games as our collections have grown. 600 pts is fine, and not that much different than many of our previous games I feel. Perhaps I don't notice the different as much due to the gradual increase. I've tried a 1500 pt 'Fall of the Reich'-game. That was a bit too much. We've been using the random terrain generation from the Barbarossa books, and I too feel it's been very open. I'm planning to get some more terrain on the table in the future in the hopes will see some more interesting tactical decisions, and more uses for infantry.

@@southlandbattles Infantry cannot achieve much on an open table when there is a lot of armoured machine guns around. However, be careful that the crew do not abandon their vehicle when pinned because of a lack of supporting infantry. You will find there are more interesting decisions. A simple change would be to make the terrain features bigger and more difficult to see through. In this game the poor Soviets had no cover whatsoever.
