SU&SD is the low-key Top Gear of board games. If you enjoy the banter and the skits you don't even need to be a full-blown gamer to appreciate the concept.

That part at the end with the guitar - what a great point. If it's your thing and it helps you escape reality for a few hours, go for it. Isn't that why we play games? I think it's easy for a lot of people to forget that and get wrapped up in the latest, shiny thing or what the 'best' game is.

I LOVE this game. I bought up every army expansion. But I’ve only played it 3 times. It is such a rare occasion I get a chance to play a 2-player game and the 2-player game category is so competitive that this game would get left out. So I painstakingly sold my Battlelore. Rebellion is my 2-player game of choice for a long game and I’ll stick with MTG or Onitama for a quick 2-player game. I still miss my Battlelore tho…

I have to say, I got M44 and hated it. I played several games that the whole game I didnt get a single left flank (or whatever) the whole game just to have my whole army die because most of it was on the left flank. they stood there and died. it happened in every game i played (3-4 games) so I sold it I picked up battlelore and the minor rules changes where you can discard a card to just give one unit an order anywhere, the magic, the fact that my units can attack back if they arnt dead, the army building and setup, the components, everything I found better. I hated M44 but I love Battlelore
@xGarrettThiefx8 жыл бұрын
M44 is just too simplistic and shallow, what a pity though... if only it had more meat on the bone in a manner of speaking.

I wound up picking up Tide of Iron, WAY better game than M44 and actually has strategy and tactical decisions

I have tide of iron, and asked people about Memoir. They said if you went tide, you dont need memoir...
@MrRipYourHeadOff7 жыл бұрын
that's a typical "Command and colors" problem. It's why I'm not willing to spend 60 bucks on memoir 44 even though I know it can be a fun game. It's mostly just frustrating and feels like a total coin flip. To those above saying they prefer tide of iron, fuck yeah that game is awesome, but I think TOI is miles more sophisticated than memoir 44 and theyre almost incomparable

This guy is hilarious! What an amazing video! I just came from SU&SD's review of War of the Ring and THIS game looks actually approachable and not totally scary! plus I love the fantasy theme. My son are first generation board gamers and we currently love Dragonwood, Castle Panic, Labyrinth. This game looks more complicated but that's a good thing, and it keeps with the fantasy theme we both love. Thanks for the review, I truly enjoyed watching!

From my experience, Mage Wars would be too much for anyone without previous CCG experience. Battlelore is a great intro to mini games. Mage Wars is a great 1v1 game for Magic enthusiast. Battlelore is basically done with expansions though. Mage Wars pumps out new expansions for the hardcore fans. These expansions makes the game deeper, but it also builds walls for new comers.

For many of my friends, and myself as well, it is hard to get over the Second World War theme of Memoir '44, and it'd be much easier to enjoy Battlelore. You know what I'm saying? Like some Hollywood movies can feel more like American propaganda and a rewriting of history (i.e. 'Blackhawk Down', and even 'Patton'), so can I game like Memoir '44 feel that way. You know? Am I crazy?!...
@dustinboatman61348 жыл бұрын
Plus, the Lore mechanic is just cooler than vanilla Memoir 44.
@shaneannigans7 жыл бұрын
Rodrigo Sanches do Valle Silva 100% agree with you mate!! Memoir 44's theme, just like all historical war themes, turns me right off. I feel that war isn't a simple good vs evil thing and the fact that many soldiers on both sides weren't fighting for the political beliefs of their leaders as they'll have us think frustrates me. HOWEVER, throw a fantasy theme in where there are armies of demons unapologetically killing people or a souless, mindless undead force puppeteered by a power-hungry and mad necromancer and I'm in. I have Battlelore and it is AMAZING!!! How amazing? I'm a solo boardgamer so I control both sides. It's one of my favourite games and I've never even played against another human player!!! :)
