david konopka was the real driving force behind the catchiness of battles for me. seeing him leave has lead john and ian to toil in their obscurity they've fostered but I don't see much coming out of it. still a fun listen, no doubt, but i sure miss the dl4 sped up riffs that david would lay down so perfectly.
