yeah, but neither we fight that up close and personal so I doubt the aliens would either. take the Russians vs Nato they do it from long range just the Russians have shit defenses against those sorts of engagements, so we win most of the time now without effort.

The fact that they outsmarted an alien with supposed high tech weapons and got destroyed by an old warship makes these aliens in this movie a lesser compare to other aliens from other alien movies. Still a cool movie and a cool scene. Especially that 1v1 battleship vs alien ship.

It was an interesting twist. It was kind of cool seeing an alien species that is only slightly more advanced than us. To me it was realistic that another species focused on travel, shields etc. Humanity has always focused on killing and our most advanced tech is all centered around it

Also keep in mind, that they only had a fraction of the shells that the battleship actually carried, and a fraction of the crew needed to operate it. so they had to make every shot count so time to get up close and personal.
