I respectfully disagree with your Merc KS fulfillment. If CGL releases Mercs to retail before 95% fulfillment of KS, they will reap significant negative criticism, and rightfully so.

They won't. Catalyst will release the KS items after the KS is fulfilled.

I hear ya. I'm sure they will do what they can to fulfill most pledges before they hit retail with it. They were mostly successful at that in Clan Invasion. Notice I said mostly. ;) Personally, I have no issue with the smaller minis game companies I like fulfilling things as they need to. I have a huge amount of love for CGL, so extend them a massive amount of grace, that I'm sure isn't universally common.

@@trboturtle1035 I know that this isnt true. I as a owner of shop already have some Premium Books / Leather Bound Books in store that will ship to you as a backer. So we can and will get the stuff on time when you as a backer will recieve it. Not all of the stuff but we will have. And you only have to take a look at their shadowrun and Levithans KS, both are not even delievered to the customers but the shops already have the products. So yeas I agree with Highlighter here, stores will have the products on the same time, sometimes even earlier

Never supported/ cashed out on kickstarter before and the things you get are technically cheaper than when in retail, again that depends on shipping and tax cost etc. Want to get Rasalhague Dominion/ HouseArano/ Capellan/ SeaFox/RavenAlliance/WolfDragoons/GrayDeathLegion for sure! So very happy to see Battletech grow and appear more commonly like here in Scandinavia and its core creators guard the franchise. Catalyst must NOT forget themself when getting bigger, like WizardsoftheCoast/ Hasbro and Games Workshop have become!

I've only just picked up AGoAC, hoping to build up to campaign play. Will Mech Commanders Handbook make previous books obsolete on this or is it still worth me picking it up between now and then? Same for other book? Thanks!

Commanders Handbook sounds like a large update from what CGL is saying. The current version is pretty dated at this point. They will still leverage over quite a bit from the current version, but if it was me, I’d probably shy away from buying the current version.

I'm with you. Next Kickstarter, next anything from CGL/BattleTech. Hunch is they take to the skies for the next kickstarter. There was lots of Aerospace talk post Mercs KS. My money would be on later era mechs coupled with an Aerospace box, beginning rule set in that box, and a full fledge hardback rulebook.

@@box2battle I'd love to see a new Aero box. But sadly that seems like a very small possibility: for one thing Aero isn't really that popular and for another the Aero rules need a complete overhaul before that would happen. (At least that is what I was told the last time I asked.)

Crossing fingers for Aerospace, sympathies for those who are die-hard fans of that branch of the military🫡 I hope for 4-6 pack boxes of 20 tonner Fleas and Locusts and say 3-5 of any 20t Clan lights too! Swarm mechs I call em. Also want Vulture/ Mad Dog Mk III, IV the one made by CGB/ Rasalhague and based of the Mk II from Mech Warrior 4 games. I LOVE the addition of a chin turret!

I see the next Kickstarter being an IlClan Kickstarter. So many mechs they can make. So much more stuff to hash out. They are looking for a place for people to jump in and start the game and this gives them one. A new era that is somewhat stand alone. I don’t think they rush through it.

Good catch! I’m not a fan of “map scale” anything or the Alpha Strike mats with the 3D printed elements. I kind of ignored those. 👍 I do however have a giant plastic Easter egg for making a more proper scaled dropship … someday.

In the UK here. I have loved BattleTech since I was a kind but know little about it, other than the old cartoon and playing MechWarrior 2 & 3 and MechCommander. If I wanted to get into this, specifically playing as Clan Wolf with a Timber Wolf, what would be the best things to look at/buy?

There are two main games to consider. What we typically call “Classic” and a quicker more skirmish-like “Alpha Strike”. To get the minis you want you probably would grab the Clan Invasion box set. Depending on your taste in game: Classic vs Alpha Strike … you either want to get the A Game of Armored Combat box (for Classic) or the Alpha Strike Box (for Alpha Strike). Alternatively you could get the minis in Clan Invasion box set and then also buy the corresponding rule book for either “Classic” or Alpha Strike. You could safely have fun painting and learning with the Clan Invasion box by itself, which will have those very desired Clan Wolf mechs in them for you, and then expand out for actual gameplay after you learn a little more and decide to go with one or both of the game play modes. Me as an Australian add 3 months to a year but still happy , recently got to point ive been able get everything except the current Barnes and Noble and Target exclusives here which as someone with way to much BattleTech isnt a big deal really

There isn’t a revised Alpha Strike rule book coming to my knowledge. There are three Alpha Strike related other books coming though. I don’t feel like typing all the info out here. Either watch this video or the one I made on Combat Manuals for more details.

Then you'll end up either supporting PGI or Mircosoft. PGI is better than Mircosoft, but of all 3 CGL is the best to handle to IP. And no CGL hasn't done anything to really earn the shit thats been thrown at them. They changed the advertising of the Patton/Rommel to just Patton on the box. Its still a Rommel as noted in the IlKlan Guide, and when trying to expand their reach especially since they got Target on board to a release. Having the name of a Famous 40s German isn't good for advertising in the modern day for most retailers. Or there was the firing of BLP, which we only know one highly biased side of, but when you look at the facts BLP's story falls apart. And he was definitely "fired" over Politics... from a Political novel he wrote 5 months before hand. In reality he wasn't fired, he was a contractor and the Higher ups didn't want to resign him. Almost like he pulled some real stupid shit like bringing back the Smoke Jaguars (which we know 100% was only him), and wrote Hour of the Wolf. Yeah definitely got "fired" for Politics, and wasn't just dropped because of Bad decisions and poor reception

@@Kepora1 Think they'll blame CGL then wish FASA still had control? Completely ironic since CGL has more Old FASA staff than anyother company did except WizKids. Battletech's least popular decisions have always been made by damn near the same people. Weisman himself came up with the Age of Destruction plot. "I support Battletech without supporting CGL" means that they want Mech Assault 3. You don't want Mech Assault 3, look up the concept art. I really think a lot of this push back is 40k Fans coming over looking for CGL to be as bad as GW and taking any little thing as proof, even when a more reasonable rational for that decision was made. They aren't. Oh dont get me wrong CGL can has and is looking to keep fucking up. But er. Thats what FASA/WizKids did the entire time as well. Almost like its the same people still lol
