Now that's a backstab from rage, hate and stubborness of them both. Malthus was troll enough to see the flaw in bid, but still lost due to Adam's environmental awareness, and Adam was blinded enough by his whole "my home planet" thing to forget about the main element of the populated planet that keeps it populated. That was actually kinda epic and funny at the same time. That's what I like about old cartoons. And that's what modern ones lack severely. Wish this one was remade, I personally want an up-to-date "in-universe propaganda holovid", that'd be, like, most welcome.

Thoughts after watching the series: 1) Lots of good nostalgic memories. I played tabletop BattleTech in Junior High and High School and remember waking up ridiculously early Saturday mornings to watch this. I think it was shown at something 5:30 in the morning. 2) Speaking of BattleTech, it was very amusing reading the comments from video gamers who thought this series was based on the Mechwarrior video games. 3) It was also amusing reading the comments from the real hardcore BattleTech fans. Those comments all sounded like they were written by Comic Book Guy, pointing out discrepancies in hair color, citing source books, and arguing about the show's place in canon. 4) Commenters who thought the special effects were cheesy and archaic and thought it would be worthwhile to redo the show with updated special effects need to keep in mind that these effects were cutting edge at the time. Computer animation was still in its infancy when this show debuted and I remember thinking the effects were amazing at the time. Also, keep in mind that in 15-20 years from now, people will be making fun of the special effects of today for looking cheesy and archaic. It's all about historical perspective and I think we should all try to keep some when viewing this show from our contemporary perspective.

Only in this series have I ever seen an Awesome last so long against a Thor. Or see an Awesome only use is Large laser and only its Large laser in combat rather than all of them. Also considering the armor on it just a blast to the back was enough to bring it down? Even from a Thor, one LRM isn’t enough to floor an Awesome. Hell im shocked Steiner didn’t try closing in and using that fist on his Awesome. Also shocked he’s using Marik mechs rather than Steiner mechs. See also The Atlas. Even as good as the Thor is, an Atlas is definitely gonna hold it’s own. And besides. Everyone knows that a Steiner Scout lance must have at least 4 Atlases in it. I still love this show. Even if they got everything wrong from the Mauler, to Steiner using medium mechs (a call back to Victor Steiner using one perhaps in Lethal Heritage?) To a MadCat losing to innersphere medium mechs (and no I’m not a filthy clanner. Long live the inner sphere). I still loved it. I really wish it would’ve kept going. Though I have no idea how they would’ve introduced ComStar and the battle of Tukkyad. Kinda heavy stuff for a kids show.

Freeborn, what you have witnessed is the Batchall. The honorable fight within all clans and only in a clan can a Batchall be be initiated but worthy Freebirth can also call in a Batchall as well. Such an honor. Hail Clan Wolf and the ilKhan Kerensky!

Fun fact about this series: It's canon in the BattleTech universe. Sort of. Let me explain. Early in BT history, it was mostly just TRO's (Technical Read-outs) that would mention certain events, battles, 'Mechs, etc. BUT they typically had different authors, so sometimes the canon would... clash. In the 90s (about the time the Clans happened), the authors decided to smooth over the inconsistencies by making all TROs to exist "in-universe." The reason it wasn't constant is that they were issued by ComStar, which was known (again, especially after the Clan Invasion) to be... well, not a "bunch of liars", but very happy to stretch the truth if it suited them. SO, going back to the cartoon here. The Somerset Strikers did exist, and they did take back Somerset (for a time). The cartoon actually exists in the BT universe once the Invasion was over as a sort of propaganda for Federated Commonwealth (and later just Lyran Alliance) children to see and make them want to join the military. I dunno, I thought it was fun.

Some of the elements in the cartoon was taken from the novels. Victor Steiner-Davion and his encounter with the Jade Falcon clan on Trell I was mostly accurate except Hawksworth (the man who ordered Victor and Galen off Trell I) was a Leftenant-General and not a colonel.

In canon Adam apparently never gets to free his people, and his older brother dies in some way. Instead he rises through the ranks before becoming Archon, eventually. He also annihilates the Brotherhood of Cincinnatus.

Pretty good series for a Saturday morning TV cartoon show. The Battletech universe is pretty cool as are the Mechs. But I think in reality the Mechs would be too expensive to produce. Tanks and jets would be cheaper & more effective. The Mechs are too big to be stealthy, slower than jets, and vulnerable at the legs. Take one leg down & you've immoblized the entire Mech.

i know what you mean, the 3d animation was fine, but the 2d was pretty lacking, they obviously had to split the budget between the 3d sequences and the 2d stuff, but I just liked battletech and mechwarrior so much as a kid, ill take anything I can get, i still think a hollywood movie would be awesome nowadays, the public really is really open to giant fighting robots now, it sure wasnt that way back in the 90s haha...

The story was better then the animation, the cg was cool for it's day, I remember watching this show when it was aired, but the animation was crappy for back then...however the story was great had lots left to give, if only they had gone with higher production quality from the start this could have gone somewhere.

Love this show but they always broke the number1 rule in a mech fight never show your back and clan mechs are a pain in the ass to over heat for the Double Heatsinks other then that it was a good show
