Man, I always come back to this video. This very video is what shaped my lance, especially the grasshopper. Since watching this video my grasshopper has more frags than the rest of the lance. It's the best heavy scout for sure, so thank you man. Would love e some. New BT content from you, love you're style. Have an awesome day man

Death from above with a Highlander is so legendary that it has its own nickname: "The Highlander Burial". Generally a successful DFA from a Highlander leaves barely enough of the enemy to salvage with a Dust Buster.

I love the Grasshopper - it's great for hunting down the lighter, faster 'Mechs, and it's also superior for coring even the heaviest assault 'Mechs from behind. I've also managed to accumulate a full lance of Annihilators (I love using them with a trio of AC/10s and a pair of ER Large Lasers each) as well as a lance of Highlander B's. Black Market is your friend, and headshots are a godsend for salvaging the rare 'Mechs (Royal Marauders are ideal for getting what you need).

So I am playing the campaign with no DLC- as of today have just done the Tyrlon story mission (next stop Coromodir) at about 100 in-game weeks. Here is my current stable. I have 2 Atlas 2s. 1st ("Homewrecker") running AC10 4+Acc, AC20+++, 2 ERLLAS++ on the arms and SRM6+++ and SRM2+++ plus a -30% Gyro. 2nd ("Awesomer") running 4PPCs (2 for accuracy, 2 for stability damage) on the arms and 2 ERMLAS++ in the CT (*EDIT* and a +2TTS). Both with 3 jets and full front armor and both pretty cold (2 Exchanger++ on the PPC build). Both have Cockpit Mods ++. My Highlander 732B is running 2 LLAS, 1 ERMLAS++, AC10, 2 SRM6+++, Gyro 10%, 3 jets, Cockpit Mod++ and 3 MG+ (0 tons, +5 shots) full front armor and is also reasonably cold. I have a Stalker with jets and 4 LRM15s - 2 are +1 damage and 2 are +2 stability damage and 50%c crit. I also run a Marauder 2R that has 3 LLAS and 2 MLAS with extra accuracy and a TTS(E)3+Acc for headshotting. This one carries my Rangefinder. I'm considering building a MAD-3D with 5 high accuracy MLAS as a backup. The non-SLDF mechs are difficult to keep cold, though. I farmed the Atlases and Marauder and some of the weapons from the Black Market stores and did a lot of missions for pirates to get better prices - ERML++s and ERLL++s are horribly expensive, like 1.3M and 1.8M C-bills apiece, IIRC. The Atlases cost me about 7.5M each. THE MAD-2R was like 6M. That's a lot of salvage. Suggestion for your Catapult C4: Run 2 LRM15s and 2 LRM5s instead of the 2 LRM20s. You will save 2 tons that can be used for better cooling or armor. Thanks for sharing your builds. I was considering a similar Grasshopper build.

"The table top version of mechwarrior" irony there is they were both table top, the original MechWarrior was just the pen and paper RPG side of battletech.

Also this is just an FYI, i dont think this is tied to DLC but i may be wrong as i do have them all. But with that said you can find systems tagged with SLDF or LosTech not sure which and you can even filter by this on the star map which will sell SLDF gear for high prices, gauss ammo bins usually go for about 70k and gauss rifles can be upwards of 1.5mil but you can buy them. I didnt know this for a while cos they added it in relatively recently but its a great thing to know.

Its SLDF. You can gauss rifle and ammo beginning of game at Kimi. Ofc you need them cbills but dual gauss King Crab is something to behold.

Try to get into good term with Pirate. I went that way and got access to the Black Market. That is absolutely the best decision so far. I got the Highlander 733, 733B and 732B long before the mission where you get the free 732B. Managed to buy 2 Black Knight (SLDF version), each with 9xDouble Heatsinks 2 more story missions and I was rocking 2 x Atlas 2. One with 2x UAC-20 ++ (+20Dmg, -2 tons), LRM 20+++. The 2 x UAC-20s deal a total of 480dmg (120 each shot, 2 shots each gun, and with 2 guns at the same time). Another with 2 x Gauss Rifle ++ (-3 tons, -1slot), SRM6+++, LRM20+++, ER M Laser++ The Gauss Rifle ++ were purchased from the Black Market at 3.9Mil C-Bills each (after 10% discount because of good reputation with Pirate).

not sure this will be replied to, given the age of the post, but do TTS effects stack? if you add two TTS of the same specialty, like he did here with his Stalker, is he really getting +6 accuracy?

TTS *do* stack. So get yourself 6 tons of ballistic TTSs and go nuts with that Ultra\20. (:

So my 4 atlas 2s with gauss lrm20s 2 er large 2 er medium srm6 with 6 double heatsinks is a no go??‽?
@jacobely68264 жыл бұрын
Although i have to say when you have max morale its almost necessary to run a head hunter mech, they are just too powerful. Personally i love turning my lostech highlander into my head hunting mech as its weight and heat efficiency allow for max jump capability and dual ac20's with no need for heatsinks aswell as full armour and a balistic tts. This leads to having a mech that can leap around and make a called headshot for an 18 percent chance to instantly kill any mech within range with each of its 2 AC20'S. I think in one mission ive managed to get a maximum of 6 destroyed heads which is just the most satisfying thing in the game. Headhunters aren't the most reliable or efficient method of killing mechs but they are probably the most fun and easiest way of getting new mechs to add to your collection for those who just want to fill their storage with mechs. And now seeing as you can actually buy LosTech mechs (all be it for crazy prices) there's no downside in the late game as you can just do a ton of 5 skull missions taking assault mech after assault mech and selling them or just taking huge cash prizes. This makes getting that 20+ million you need for the mechs not a huge deal as long as you are a little careful with money.

i know it's 1 year old but does your build still viable ? and can you go into detail for me ? full highlander lance specialize for head kill ?
@jacobely68263 жыл бұрын
@@Bananacatcryhappy Its even more viable than ever thanks to the, i think marauder? The highlander is still a great headhunter, at which point all you need as necessity is any weapon that can one shot headshot, breaching shot and maximum i think tactics? whicever stat gives bonuses to called shots, at which point you will have a constant 18 percent chance to hit the head, and if you do hit it will always one shot headshot so long as you have breaching shot and simply fire your head hunter weapon. The build details really arent particularly important, i cant really remember as its been a few months since i last played but yeah as i said above all you need as necessity is a weapon that does more than 61 damage (i think thats the total health and armour of a full head) my personal favourites being the ac20 on nimble mechs and, if possible, a gauss rifle on assault mechs that arent as mobile. another soft requirement is max morale on your ship, you dont need it but if you have it, it will pretty much guarantee a called shot every shot. Finally if you want to maximise your headshot potential, use the marauder as it has a bonus to called shots and has around a 33 percent chance to hit headshots which is absolutely insane. Another risky but fun headhunting mech i use on the regular when i play is a shadowhawk with an ac20, a little bit squishy in the late game but incredibly agile and devastatingly fun to take heads off of assault mechs. You could go the route of having full headhunters in your lance but i wouldnt recommend it, not because it doesnt work but more because it works a little too well, it'll be incredibly rare for any of your mechs to take any real damage with that kind of configuration and the game becomes a little bit boring because every mech you come across you just absolutely demolish. TL;DR yes it works, the only things needed are weapons that can destroy the head in one hit, a pilot with maximum tactics and preferably breaching shot, and preferably maximum morale back on the ship.

I have an Atlas 2 with 6 snub PPC++ andn3 King Crabs with 4 snub PPC++ each. I single shot kill any 100 ton mechs and would annihilate this lance. My mechanic do not overheat either. Stacked 4 heat exchanger++ -20% heat on each mech plus heat sink (d) to allow me to do full alpha strikes every turn. My Atlas 2 has a damage output of 750.

@adamvu551310 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I can't agree with your end game build. Firstly, none of your mechs is able to instakill at a consistent rate, which is a must in a 5 skull mission. Secondly, you're wasting your Atlast by verifying his range, just put double AC20++ and 2 Srms 6+++ and he'll have 400+ damage, good enough to callshot any mech. Lastly, your team is too slow with 2-3 assaults, you'll need at least 1 more heavy, like a warhammer, blackknight or marauder or you'll find it really challenging at base defend or convoy missions.
