Given how it turned out that " Faith McClosky" turned out not to be real, I imagine they were more then a few ashamed people at Catalyst. Shame they never properly apologized for it.

One constant seems to be that each era era seems to be more disliked then the one before it, right from the transition from the initial Fourth Succession War to the second era with the Clan Invasion, with the ilKlan maybe constituting the first time a new era was more liked then what came before but there's a reason why almost everyone plays in the Fourth Succession War, Clan Invasion or FedCom Civil War era. BattleTech has the same problem the Universal Century does where the most interesting era has a definitive end and no one really likes what came beyond it, only where the UC kept to making more stories in the era people care about BattleTech presses on even when the storylines make no sense based on what came before. The perfect example is Rasahlauge, which as a fan I'm disappointed in not just how Dominions Divided went down but the fact that a civil war followed by conflict with the Dragon would have been simple by having it be the Clan's last stand against their time coming to an end, a coup to reverse the reforms gone wrong that lite the flames of war, only for an opportunistic Drak commander to make a miscalculated raid that accidentally opens a second front for the Combine that they weren't prepared for since they saw the Dominion fighting itself and didn't think it would put that on hold for a full on war. Personally I think like Zeon the time for the Clans has passed, it's time for the Homeworld Clans to come to their logical conclusion of becoming the isolationist Junta they where becoming and for the Crusader Clans to assimilate to the Freeborn nations they've found themselves in. Personally if I was in charge of the overall narrative I'd have Gavin Marik-Davion turn out to be less then loyal to the Federated Suns and instead having been pulling strings to try to secretly influence events in the Federated Suns, Lyran Commonwealth, and the Free Worlds League to paint himself as the man most responsible for expelling the Combine from the Federated Suns, retaking the Clan occupied worlds for the Commonwealth, and reforming the League after its collapse towards the end of declaring himself First Prince, Archon and Captain General in one stroke with enough popular support that to oppose him in any would trigger a civil war. While the fighting of the inevitable civil wars go on fighting consumes the entire Inner Sphere due to the clear intent of Gavin to declare himself First Lord, only for it to instead be done by one of the Clan Remnants he was secretly working with doing so, leading to the Clan Remnants getting involved on both sides as the Fifth Succession War burns the Inner Sphere.

Man I never even got a card. And on the website with all the fan cannon characters my bio was removed. Still need to figure out who to reach out to about maybe letting me rewrite it or something. I really liked ke the idea of battle armor being used as security for cargo convoys. Its kinda of an evolution of the gun trucks the military uses. The whole back was inspired by my short 4 years in the USMC and how that inspired one of my descendants to join the fed suns military.

@@agamelift I never got a card I think because my cannon character wasn't a mech pilot. He was a battle armor squad leader. It might have also been a problem he bought with his own funding a kage armor and not something like the cavalier armor. With knowing more about battle armor lore I think I'll fix that if I can.

I don't care about any BT long form fiction, current or previous, because precisely because author bias and second string writing. Also, BT is first and foremost a tabletop game. You can't have "winning" factions in a TT game or you are going to ruin someone's enjoyment. As far as I'm concerned the only canon are rulebooks and sourcebooks and anything else is either a waste of time or a distraction.

If that's how you enjoy Battletech, that's awesome. I can definitely see where you are coming from, it always seems like mercenaries are always a throw away suggestion to people who are unhappy with anything in the storyline in particular. Thanks for stopping in!

@@agamelift I have just seen what novels did to D&D and Forgotten Realms and I absolutely hate it From a BT perspective I play Capellans so you get all the cringe writing playing them up as incomplete Yellow Peril for decades and when they finally get a leg up during Jihad/Republic eras those eras no one cares about. Now in ilClan they are in one of the best positions but are squared up against Wolf plot armor so I don't have good feelings.
