I am new to BT (been playing MW for 27 years), & have been going through the novels chronologically (currently in 3062). I know Dominions Divided which is a dissapointing sourcebook has the Bears invading the Combine & according to BigRed40tech the Combine may just end up whooping the Bears. I really didn't understand that until you mentioned the Combine having access to all the now Extinct Nova CAT tech & facilities which. Love the videos!

Hello Professor HeyTeeEn. The Hellsport Mech Museum and the Mek Werks have recently come into possession of a badly damaged Peacekeeper PKP-1B. All the weapons, TSM, and heat sinks were destroyed when the Mech's Engine overheated to the point of a near meltdown. They boys at the Mek Werks went to work with a will and I think their efforts would please your own Tech staff. First they kept the IS-Endo and IS-FFA and replaced the Fusion Engine with a 380 class Light Fusion Engine (They had one laying around in storage). They added a 4th Jump Jet to the Mech, shifting all jump jets to both legs. They replaced the cockpit with a Small Cockpit, and added an Clan AMS with a ton of ammo in the extra 'slots'. From there, they increased the Heat Sinkage the Mech using Clan Double Strength Heat Sinks, up to a total of 19 C-DSHS. A Clan ER PPC was emplaced into the Center Torso, and a pair of Clan ER Large Lasers were added to the Arms, one per arm. So far, this 'FrankenMech' has passed all field trials easily. 'Running and Gunning' the Mech only amounts to a heat burden of 41 (12, 12, 15, 2). Adding the heat generated by the AMS defensively firing only puts the Mech up to a total of 42 heat, which is 4 above the maximum cooling (38) of the Mech's 19 heat sinks. Not too shabby for a 'bodged together' frankenmech. The design should be relatively efficient for a pilot that knows how to ride the heat curve and unlink the PPC from time to time to allow the Mech to cool off. Or, fire only one of the ER Large Lasers for about half a minute during combat to get the same effect. The 16.5 tons of IS-FFA is about as much as the Mech's chassis can support, and gives very good armor protection to the unit. The addition of the 4th jump jet increases mobility in uneven terrain, and the use of Clan Double Sinks works nicely, but is rather costly. The use of a Light Fusion Engine is almost 'inspired'. I've already taken the Astech that suggested it out for an expensive dinner as a way to reward 'off the wall' solutions to problems. His first taste of Terran Snow Crab, imported from Terra itself, brought tears to his eyes, and a huge grin to his butter dripping face. I could not help laughing at his reaction. Although I do enjoy the expensive Terran Crab from time to time, I much prefer a good meal of Sea Spiders from the planet Montana (a recent Compact Member World, known for their 'beef' which comes from a dinosaur-like species on Montana. Also, Sea Spiders have twice as many legs... all tasty!). The Mek Werks version has been officially designated as the Peacekeeper PKP-1B-X1 for now. If the Legions request this unit for their combat forces, a couple of specialty manufacturers will get very rich supplying the demand on a limited basis. In that case, I suspect that the unit will be designated as the Peacekeeper PKP-1B (GL), Ghost Lions Legion Mech. Although I do not have a head for finances, I suspect that the X1 will prove to be less costly than any similar Peacekeeper Mech, or variant. If that is true, I suspect the Legions will want to add them to their forces as soon as the Mechs can be produced and shipped out to the Legions currently employed off-world. Your own variant of the Peacekeeper has the boys at the Mek Werks wanting a 2nd Peacekeeper to modify to your group's specifications and then 'test to destruction'. Boys and their toys. It never ends. Diana McFairlain, Head Mech Tech, Ghost Lions Legions Hellsport Mech Museum Stygian Compact

I always thought the Peacekeeper was a heavy mech when I first saw it. The base loadout is really nice (aside from the ER Large laser, it should be a standard or a pulse) and the only real complaint that I have is that it doesn't have any hands.

The ER Large Laser does feel redundant.

Just a question, why CASE II? Plasma Rifle ammo is just inert plastic without proper prep from the weapon and I didn't see an SRM-2 on your design. And unlike Coolant Pods, the Radical Heat Sink system doesn't explode either.
@ProfessorHeyTeeEn6 ай бұрын
Am I mistaken that plasma rifles explode like a gauss rifle when hit? If that's the case, we can save on some weight there.
@jamesbeard55136 ай бұрын
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn Don't believe so. Still looking for the rules for it, but Skunkwerks usually reduces the BV of a weapon/ammo that explodes if it is placed in a slot with an engine torso where it can kill the mech immediately, and it is not doing that. I'll keep checking, supposedly the rules are in Total Warfare pg 139,if the Tech Manual is accurate. I have slightly older copies, so the information may be outdated.
@Blazer00796 ай бұрын
@@jamesbeard5513 Checking my PDF copy of Total Warfare, both the ammo and the plasma weapon itself do not cause ammo explosions when critically hit. They also can't be touched off due to excess heat.

Got redirected from youtube to here. Typing this before finishing the video so there may be overlap. That's a bad mech. Its one of the few mechs that has fewer Jump Jets(3) than it can walk(4). Checking all the internal gear its supposed to overheat to use the Triple Strength Myomer, but its not actually good at melee combat. Its got so many mismatched big guns. 1 Extended Range Large Laser, 1 Extended Range Particle Projection Cannon, 1 Heavy Particle Projection Cannon, 1 Plasma Rifle, and 1 SRM-2. With weapons generating 56 heat and only 30 cooling it overheats easily. It lacks versatility. You could easily replace one of those guns with a Gauss Rifle and ammo. My vote would be the Heavy PPC. The SRM-2 is basically redundant. The ammunition for it is in the Side Torso, ensuring it will blow due to overheating and take out the engine. If piloting one then dumping the ammunition immediately would greatly increase the mechs survival. If you wanted a Quad-Cannon mech Its not an impossible idea. Except for the Jump Jets and C3, the clan Hellstar does basically everything the Peacekeeper wanted to be. They even weight the same. Any mech with an Extralight Engine in-universe is a "Top Grade" mech that costs about 3 times as much as the next best mech.
@ProfessorHeyTeeEn6 ай бұрын
It's a platform which needs improvement for sure. Taking out the JJ and TSM would be my first pick, change the mismatched PPC with a pair of Heavies, ext...

@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn I took it into Mech Factory and yeah doing stuff like that was one of the earliest things. I like Energy Boats, but FASA/Catalyst like making them bad such as Ammunition right next the Engine. So Peacekeeper is a bad fusion of the Awesome and Berserker, with a little Warhawk thrown in. If you wanted to make a Melee mech or fire support it could easily be that, but not both. I like making custom Berserkers. Yeah theyre expensive but having a melee zombie mech that really exploits TSM and Jump jets can be terrifying. The Peacekeeper was designed to explode.

Not a fun of any lore post 3065ish. Everything felt forced and shallow, or overly gushing fan service. I mean, Victor is cool and all but betty sueing him into 100 years of age is a bit much. C3 computers, improved JJS, etc equipment that were all geared toward making mechs powerful for TT over everything else. Not to mention a rather blank and tossed away ending to the Thomas Marik plotline that had been so very carefully built up in the background for 40 years. That being said, the republic of the sphere's mistakes were kinda interesting in the term of comparing them to the original Star League. Almost like a repeat of the mistakes into restarting the whole cycle of the inner sphere all over again.

I'm happy with some of the lore, but a lot of the Jihad / Dark Age / current ilClan storyline is weak. In terms of the tech, I'm MOSTLY okay with new things, but some do need a bit of balancing.
