When I played through the Battletech video game, I got fed up with the Jenner's heat problem. I also realized that I wasn't really using the jump jets. So, I ripped out the jump jets and filled the space with more heatsinks and armor. It was a pretty good modification. I recommend it.

One of the few good things to come out of the Draconis Combine, the Jenner hardly needs an introduction as it speaks for itself. Can't really think of any better term to describe this thing as a pack hunter as a group of these things can and will savage heavier mechs if given the chance. If I had to design and use one post Clan Invasion I would upgrade it with Ferrofiberous or Endo Steel armor, replace the heat sinks with doubles, and remove the SRM launcher and ammo to boost both armor and heat sinks. I'd still be loathe to tangle with even medium mechs but or heavily armed vehicles but a pack of this variant would be a nightmare to face if caught unprepared.

Honestly never understood the Clan-era upgrade for the Jenner. Just refitting the existing models to use double heat sinks is enough. Maybe upgrade the medium lasers to ER so you can reintroduce the heat problem for minimal functionality? A lot of the clan-era upgrade packages are really stupid, more focused on cramming in upgrades than actually improving performance. Like any other mech that pushes the upper end of speed, the Jenner benefits massively from an XL Engine. When your engine outweighs your combined weapons and armor it is time for an XL. You'll gain survivability by adding more armor. If the Jenner wants to truly be more survivable, rip out enough medium weapons to mount a large laser. Speed + range will do more to protect this mech than any armor upgrade. Laser rather than missiles because the laser is viable at any range, and the Jenner wants to close when it has an opportunity to finish a badly damaged opponent.

@@Sk0lzky The A10 warthog was a much beloved special purpose fighter. Among the best tank hunters ever produced. Normally this is a role fulfilled by helicopters or multi purpose fighters. Definitely a solid choice for a light mech hunter-killer and recon unit! I love to pair this mech with a Phoenix Hawk in a light lance to give my opponents plenty to think and worry about. Both need to use their weapons wisely so as not to build up too much heat, but if used at the right time it can be a nasty surprise for an opponent that's let their guard down.
@bopaintsminis2 жыл бұрын
My favorite 3025 light lance is still two panthers and two jenners. The jenners harass while the panthers lend fire support. Ether way, I try to take back or side armor with two of them, and the question becomes does my opponent give backs to the jenners or the panthers?
@ChaosTicket2 жыл бұрын
Love the Jenner in 3025. Sure it lacks any medium or long range weapons, low armor, and a unusual number of jump jets(5 on a 7 walk speed) but its overall a good idea. Its combination of speed, jump jets, and short range firepower makes it better than than nearly any other light mech in its era. It has greater speed than any medium, heavy or assault mech. Upgrading it is fairly simple. Lostech upgrades can just make it better with greater speed, more jump jets, longer ranged weapons, and/or electronics.

Just think about it, what if the battlefields of 200 years from now are still dominated by 20th century armored vehicles? What if today we were still reliant on armored knight on horseback? The battlemech is the pinnacle of warfare technology that is why they are still on the battlefields 3, 4 and 500 years on after they were originally built. Some designs like the Banshee have been on the battlefields since the earliest days of the battlemech development and are contemporary with the first battlemech the Mackie. The Jenner is one of my favorites due to its speed and the various designs that offer either laser, missile or ballistic load outs. The recent clan refit and release of the Jenner 2C was an immense improvement in armor maneuverability and firepower. And is current my favorite iteration of the venerable machine. The 2C is so capable it can stand toe to toe with mediums and slug it out until it either wins ,loses, overheats or runs out of ammo and withdraws. Truly a phenomenal machine.

Prime config: Streak SRM-4, 4 clan ERML's, and a quarter ton of cargo makes this fairly true to the original, just faster, better armed, better armored, and with twice the heat sinking capability. Alt config A: 4 Medium Pulse Lasers, a clan flamer, and one clan MG with a half ton of ammo. Alt config B: Nine Small Pulse Lasers, and a quarter ton of cargo. because why not?
