So, I'm halfway through the game. The good: the gameplay's varied. Battletoad difficulty is actually difficult, the humor's better than I was expecting, and this ended up being a better Battletoads TV show than the one we got in the 90's. And the animation's awesome. The bad: Despite the fluid animation, the art style sucks, I refuse to believe that former game programmers could be even *half* as utterly fucktarded as Zitz and Rash end up being throughout the plot thus far, and the Dark Queen looks like she spent the past 26 years working on her Shezow cosplay. Still a fun game.

hey ima be frank with any haters, if you played this series as a kid, and saw it buried for almost 2 decades, keep this in mind, what ever the new game did thats not just what you wanted... at least they did something, they tried, they gave a dead, make no mistake completely dead franchise come back to life one time... if they never get to make another game, thayv already giving us a great deal, they gave us a little part of our childhoods back, they validated what we loved inspite of its cultural irelevende, inspite of the hate the series has gotten, we owe them something for that, maybe not support if its not what you personaly want... but at least be thankful they gave it a try... they tried, one no-one else would... and to me they got somethings right the new personality of the dark queen is adorable if they let her have some of her beauty and feminiity back she would be a complete improvment, and the toads have more going on than ever before, its different sure but its funny, it works, and with our support it has a chance to be improved further... just consider that yeah m8s?

yeah, people get hung up on the art style but to me something else looked off and it was the gameplay. Correct me if I'm wrong here, my impression of what made the game feel seem Off to me was that, the gameplay seems secondary to the fidelity of the animation. Does that sound about right? It wouldn't be the first game that did this and for a game like this, that's a very severe mistake to make in production that is almost impossible to fix .

Seems odd that it wouldn't considering it's the same characters, there's hover bikes, there's platforming, beat em up sections. Imo it's just the art style that's different. Everything else feels very similar. I actually like how tight the controls feel here. Having played the 90s games, one issue I always had was how slow the fighting felt. This fast-paced approach suits them so much better and now the toads have actual personalities.

Driving and beat em up gameplay are just mechanics. There is a reason cute em ups and shoot em ups are not the same. Honestly, when this game first came out I wasn’t impressed with it, I was blinded by nostalgia & wanted a “pure” Battletoads game, but now looking at this game again I can see it’s charms, nice character designs, decent character development, fun gameplay (specifically the beat ‘em up sections), good cutscenes, legitimately good jokes, I can see how I die hard Battletoads fan might not consider this game to be for them, but I can at least say this isn’t a bad game in the slightest
