before watching this I had never seen anyone pass the part with the jet bikes, I assumed it was deliberately impossible, but now I see what lays beyond, after all these years, 25 years ago, a quarter of a century ago

I was also around 10 years old and I really enjoyed playing the stages before the jet bike. I got past the jet bike part once in about 100 tries , I still remember shouting at my mum saying I done it haha. Man the memories.

OMG!! I can remember me and my brother renting this game every weekend and never getting past the second level. After watching you beat that level I think to myself we never had a chance. The way the obstacles just appear out of nowhere just sheer craziness.

Bluebehelit, I commend you for an amazing BT game run. The furthest I got in this game without cheats was the beginning of the last level. It's still hard to this day. If it's one thing I remember BT for (besides crazy difficulty)....were those AWESOME punching sounds. They get good bass when you bust out the ram horns!

never made it past the 3rd level. Once the brick walls start flying, I said forget it. I never owned a NES and this game definately was not one to make me want one. I had a Sega Master system, there weren't a whole lot of beatemUps for it, but When I saw how hard BattleToads was and weighed out how much fun I was having, and figured out I'll go play a more fun, Just as hard game somewhere else. Glad this video is up so I can see all the fun I missed LOL

That game sure brings back memories, though I ended up using game genie to help beat the game (I've made it to the Clinger Wingers level without cheating though). It sure gets difficult, especially in the later levels like the Terra Tubes, Volkmire Inferno (though I usually skip that stage) and even the Rat Race level (especially the during third leg of the level).

This is an all-time classic, my brother and I completed this in co-op (no warps). the water level and the last set of bikes level were the hardest in the game to beat.

No kidding, this game was frustratingly unforgiving in so many spots. Yet as annoying as parts were, you could avoid that damage like this guy does. I miss games of this caliber of quality and difficulty, stuff these days just doesn't have the same sense of danger like this one does. Some come close, with quality, but the difficulty as in this game is unmatched. Great playthrough, worthy of the highest praise.

Even without the so-called "blast processing," the NES was still able to pull off the speedy effects required for the bike stage. That's pushing the system to its limits for sure!

I love how from an outsider's context, from the perspective of someone who's never played the game, it looks so super easy. I've owned the game since the Christmas after it came out (91? 92?) and I still can't beat the damned thing without using the Game Genie to skip me to level 12. I can't beat the jets, I've only beaten the footrace twice in my life and I couldn't figure out the Clinger Winger if you put a gun to my head. Screw you, Rare and Tradewest.

I remember the good old days when I'd go into town to the video rental store and pick up an NES game for $5 and keep it for a week. This is one of the best rentals I made. Along with American Gladiators, Final Fantasy, the Mega Man series... *sigh* I wish I could go back at times.

Alright, this is by far the hardest game ever created. I have NEVER made it past goddamn level 3 because I was always playing with a buddy. Try beating it with someone else and I GUARANTEE it to be IMPOSSIBLE. It's never been done this game made me curse for my first time ever when I was a kid haha. Good job bro this is nuts!

Man I love this game! I never got to beat it when I was a kid. I was like around 16 when I finaly beat. Totally loved the sound track, surffing kinda style. One of the best NES games in my opinion. I remember I had a trick for extra lives. Play it as 2 player and kill the the other one for points. I think that if you pres Down+B+Start you begin the level with 5 lives. I never liked the warp zones. I beat it going through all the levels. It was HARD AS HELL!!!

Currently learning to speed run this game as my first ever speed run. So far I have gotten to terror tubes undamaged, but it's so hard to practice parts of the game to optimise for speed when I have only picked up the game as of yesterday xD It's all good so far, it's mainly the climb in intruder excluder that screws my runs, because of the timing when to dash attack or jump to save time on the patterns of the moving platforms also the boss is a dick to juggle,

This is a great game for NES. My brother & I beat this game when we were little. We tried to beat the game with two player but it wasn't possible. We made it to the Clinger-Winger level but when the toads mount the bike it won't let the second player move, you'll just sit there & it'll run you over. Some glitch. I really wish it worked cause that would have been awesome to try & finish it together.
