Some facts about the tournament...They are allowed to go 100 miles out from the ocean city inlet in any direction. 8:30am-3:30pm are when the lines can be in the water. The Capt and crew must take a polygraph for any prize money awarded. In 2016 the boat that caught the heaviest white marlin was disqualified and lost $2.8 million in prize money because they all failed the polygraph. It went to federal court and the judge ruled in favor of the tournament.

Cobia are near the surf, so 100 yds off the beach. Snapper and grouper you go about 2-3 miles offshore. That's why Destin has been named the luckiest fishing village.

@ZipZapPower5 жыл бұрын
I think the light is required over 50 meters?
@Fiberglasser035 жыл бұрын
Are you thinking a forward masthead light or navigation lights? Navigation lights are not required to be at the bow of the boat. And zipzap is correct, a forward masthead light is not required on boats less than 50 meters. There is no such lights called bow lights.

I have never seen so many guys using spotlights to passage a channel. This is why you practice using your radar in good weather so you can read the screen.
@Dan_C6045 жыл бұрын
john Handfield that called my attention too. I tend to believe they aren’t good at radar reading and think more as if they’ were driving a car... just my guess.
@dannyt90675 жыл бұрын
They use the spotlights to see the waves. This video is filmed at the mouth of an inlet heading out to the ocean and it can get very rough depending on winds, current, tide.
@Johnonayacht5 жыл бұрын
Danny T inexperienced captains do that!
@dannyt90675 жыл бұрын
john Handfield I’ve been on a charter boat going thru this inlet in the dark and have seen waves break over the bow of a 58 ft boat. Many of the captains operating these boat are from other places (NJ, NC, FL etc..) and don’t have “local knowledge” of this inlet.
