Actually they are ruining it. by repainting this structure, they have risked Batu Caves from being removed as a world heritage site. the original Red & White stripes has strong Hinduism meaning to it. Now these rainbow may signify the colours of LGBT sentiments. Which is NOT a good thing

Nope.. I see it as LGBT simbolisme. Supposed to be RED & WHITE stripes. The red & white stripes are VERY sacred to Hindus worldwide. Every temple in the world uses this Red & White stripes, BECAUSE IT HAS SIGNIFICANCE to it. Its not simply only they paint it.

Dear Michline.. ITS NOT A TOURIST HOTSPOT. Please understand that this is a place of Hindu Worship. It is a significant temple for all Hindus worldwide. When they repainted the steps the did so, without taking the sensitivities of the hindu people. Before they repainted this steps. It was Red and White stripes. The red & white stripes has significance in Hinduism. It means the cycles of life and preservation. Now that they repainted with all the different colours, it has Lost its meaning. It has lost its sanctity. SO TRUST ME as a hindu person, we do NOT CONDONE the action of changing this colours of a sacred temple.

Yessotha Sivaji I understand the sentiments and where youre coming from. But PLEASE also note WHY I commented like that too. The temple Management IS NOT respecting our OWN hinduism by repainting the stairs. Supposed to be Red & White Stripes for a very IMPORTANT reason. They don't SIMPLY paint RED & White for no reason. It means Creation and preservation of life. It means Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. I'm trying to highlight the issue in a way so that EVERYONE can understand what it is all about. Our BATU CAVE which is like a Mecca for Hindus has been repainted by some idiots ! and can you imagine everyone here is calling it as it is a Beautiful thing. Any national heritage should be maintained healthy, eco friendly and flamboyantly! Like maintaining the internal eco system of human with a special and conservative way ensuring no harm for a longer age of the historical heritage.

EXACTLY !!! It was supposed to be a one of the many International Heritage site from Malaysia. Its been there for centuries. But its not been submitted to UNESCO till to date. However, You can always maintain it to make sure that it stands strong. If you need to renovate certain areas in order to make sure the building stays sturdy, that is fine. You can repaint it but as long as you still Preserve that same old look it is fine. Every Hindu would have been fine if they just repainted the steps with newer Red and White stripes so its still looks new. But by repainting the colours of the steps into Rainbow colours, they went completely south !!! They change the entire site into something else entirely. Now its like a Tourist Destination and a Tourist Hot Spot. NO LONGER a significant Hindu place of worship. Its like as if the Italian Government went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and repainted it into Rainbow colours. JUST TO BRING IN MORE TOURISTS THERE. Just so it will look cool to look at. What will happen to the cultural significance of the Leaning Tower and the cathedral around it ? There would be a Very High chance that UNESCO may remove the Leaning tower from their list of world heritage site should they make such a significant change.

Dato Seri, ITS NOT A THEME park. Its not a recreational park. PLEASE understand Dato, this is a TEMPLE. A place of worship. By repainting this stairs feels like somebody just went in to the KAABA in mecca and repainted it from Black to all different colours. Imagine, how the Muslims all around the world would react ? The same feeling here Dato. Every Hindus are really angry at this. Because they did so WITHOUT consulting with the priests, without the consent of the World Heritage Organisation itself. We must push them to REPAINT it back to the more significant Red & White stripes which has deep Hindusim meaning to it.

I hope it's going to be well-maintained. Otherwise, it's going to be an eyesore when the paint start peeling all over the place. And I also hope that it's unique to Batu Caves because which tourists would want to go to a temple that looks like so many others? Considering Batu Caves' iconic stature, such a significant decision should have been made through the proper channel, not decided by only a few.

A Temple is a Temple friend. ITS NOT MEANT to be for the Tourists in the first place. Its a sacred place of worship. WHY not ask your POPE and the Churches in the VATICAN to colour their churches too while youre at it ? It can woo in a whole lot of Tourists too rite ?

As a non Hindu, the stairs look amazing. But, dont you think the temple should be maintain accordingly with the law. Its a TEMPLE and a heritage monument too. Lebih suka warna asal. Warna warni sekarang ni tak masuk la dengan hutan and pokok2 tu. But still look amazing.
