I purchased a Bauer 10" sliding miter saw about 7 months ago and just wanted to share my experience with the saw as well as its features.
i have no complaints about the saw. I use it in a pretty traditional manner, i.e., cross cuts and miters and have cut 4x4's, 2x4's, as well as 6", 8" and 10" material in width all with no issues.
It needed a small adjustment out of the box which was no problem and give me clean 90 degree cuts.
It has extensions on each side that extend about 17-1/2" out and there is a stop on each side as well.
I love shadow like .... it's not a laser .... but it works great!
I like the horizontal grip with safety ... I find that to be more comfortable than the vertical grip
It has a stop for dado's as well
Dust collection is mediocre so I emphasize sliding through the cut versus chopping as that reduces dust.
Great little saw for the price. The unknown is how long it will continue to operate, so stay tuned.
Purchased at Harbor Freight

I have a Bosch 12" sliding compound miter saw, which is phenomenal but its extremely large and heavy. I am going to pick up the Bauer 7.25" sliding compound miter, which is the 20V variant. I can get it on sale right now for $142. I already have some batteries, and I'll have to buy a blade. I think it will be a great addition when I just need to grab something and go to a different spot than my shop where my huge Bosch is. Thanks for the review. Yours is obviously 10" and runs on 110VAC, but I think the build quality and accuracy will be similar to the one I'm getting.

I picked this Bauer 10" sliding dual bevel myself last yr. Knowing everything you mentioned about it not being a branded saw. It's done alot for me but I treat it w/respect also. Crown, base molds, small closet framing etc. Diablo 40 tooth blade also 😁👍 Now I'm looking to get Bauer's 18g cordless nailer but my neighborhood HF is waiting on stock 😫 Great review Dennis 🇺🇸💯🔥💪😁

I have the same saw except 12". I haven't used it a lot yet but I like it. One thing that impresses me is the power. It makes very nice smooth cuts and nothing slows it down. It's fairly loud. I don't know how it's compares to other saws though.

Didn't mention the motor. My old 12 inch compound miter saw from HF had a loud motor! It's working for someone else now. The depth of a sliding miter saw is a problem in small shops. Thanks for the review!

Thanks a lot for giving a review on this because I've been trying to decide whether it's worth it to purchase a more expensive one. I bought a 12" sliding metabo and opened the box inside my little garage workshop and shrieked! Too much space! Took it back and went back to the drawing board. I have an old stationary delta 8.75" that I've been using for over 20 years - it's a beast and love it - but I'm tired of flipping boards or having a board too big for my little beast. So, I'm caught between spending the money on something I know is a good quality vs. using something "good enough." Harbor Freight is out of stock on these today and so after watching this, I think I'll wait for it.

Hi Bud! No regrets. No complaints. It's my only saw so I've used it to build everything on my site except for the workbench. Never a hiccup. It's easy to adjust, cuts perfect 90's and the faux laser still works. I don't do a lot of bevels, in fact, I've never used the bevel so can't really comment on that. But it's doing everything I've asked it to do. Oh, btw, it doesn't come with a blade and dust collection is just about like any other miter saw - not good. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and the comment. Dennis

Hi - I found it to be a very accurate and reliable saw. Dust collection wasn't great, which is the case with most miter saws, but I found all else to be fine. About a year ago, I gave it to my nephew who needed a miter saw and it is still going strong - Dennis

I've had one for a couple of years, I used a Chicago Electric for many years then replaced it with this one for the higher fence, better for crown molding. This past weekend I went through a cut list for 2 night stands, all oak, and it performed flawlessly. I did notice that the shadow light was not working, it was on but the shadow had faded, didn't take the time to see if I could fix it. It is very heavy compared to the Chicago Electric, I decided to get the stand that Bauer makes for it with wheels. I do think it was worth the money I payed for the upgrade. Some may say it's not much of an upgrade, but you have to consider the application. I'm a DIYer, my livelihood doesn't depend on my tools. I just don't buy the construction grade tools for my weekend projects.

@@samuelrd61 thanks for the comments - I forgot about the shadow line, but that is a great feature and was spot on - some had an issue with it not working after some time and if I recall correctly there was some speculation that it was a result of leaving the machine plugged in - i never had the issue but I also only plugged it in when needed - whether that kept it working I don’t know but I loved the feature

I found out that it can be fixed, the LED light has to be replaced. I've worked on electronics before so I don't think I will have any problems doing it, but it might not be for everyone. It doesn't ruin the saw, the guy in the video I watched said the circuit stays hot, even when the saw was not running. I do remember finding the light on before when I wasn't using the saw .

Woodworking Beginner: New - Update. This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work). Tips and Test: Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. First option: handle vertical positioned above the saw blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact/ Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. (test is completed). Step-4. Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Step-5. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing. Conclusion: Remember this, the test is only about torsion and nothing else how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, you better not go for that. (the choices are yours). Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner...

Hmmm. I've actually seen a live demonstration where the horizontal style handle was less likely to knock the blade out of line on a quality brand (Makita). I believe all saws will have some movement but testing the saw to see whether it cuts a straight line and 45 degree is most important to me, with an angle meter. The tradeoff is which saw for the money can give consistently accurate cuts. I've only seen a few reviews of the Bauer but the reviews I've seen are pretty positive for accuracy.

Hi Jeremy! Actually, I think it's been about 1-3/4 years now. I have not had any issues whatsoever. The base is flat, the fences are square, I love the shadow light and the cuts are accurate. My only complaint, and it's a complaint with just about all miter saws, is poor dust collection. Otherwise, it's a great saw at a great price.

@@DIYwithDennis Great point! I have to move this thing outside to cut as dust gets everywhere. Same case with all miter saws. This leads to my next con, it's fricken heavy! I will need to mount this on a wheeled stand for mobility. At the same time, a heavy saw makes a stable saw. Life's a b*tch isn't it?

Hi Cole, hard to get power tools not made in China these days .... in my case of the brands I mentioned: Lie-Nielsen = US, Festool Power Tools = Europe, Grizzzly = China/Taiwan .... all my Grizzly machines with the exception of the planer are made in Taiwan who reportedly have better quality assurance than China. The one that surprised me was SawStop! I thought they were made in the US. Based on your comment I looked it up and found they design in the US but manufacture in Taiwan as well, so thanks for your comment - Dennis
