Oh well said..for those of us living in depressed towns( me from Liverpool) this music ,Joy Division & the whole cross over it the post punk,/ industrial & gothic scene was like a perfect backdrop to living in dystopian Britain in ..Thatcher's nightmare!

The Peel session version of Double Dare was so spot on that they couldn't replicate it for the album, so they chose to put this version on the album. Still my fav Bauhaus song.

ran away from home to see these guys. front row, Bristol, 1981, got whipped numerous times by Murphy's mic lead and caught a bunch of (fake) yellow roses which I still have to this day...don't ask me why! such power and energy in the music. Got tickets to see them again at the Ali Pali in London later this year (CV permitting)

Saw these guys about a little over a year ago and I’ve seen so much bands before them and these guys jumped straight to number two of the best bands I’ve seen and they opened up with this song and his voice now sounds so similar to him younger still and everyone sounds exactly how they recorded the music they’re so fantastic and then a few months ago I saw love and rockets and they were fantastic for sure see them both when you can because you never know when you can see either of them and for me barely being 20 and able to hear theirs guys were fantastic

Yeah a lot of people fried to bauhaus, back in the day. That's one of the foremost associations I have, hearing this: good blotter, cheap chianti, half-finished basements, folks in pea-coats, leather jackets, cool girls, clove smoke and campfires

I dont have a clue where I got it, but I had a bootleg copy of this around the mid 80's, that tape got played so many times it stretched until it broke, not kidding. sound quality wasnt bad at first, but definitely got really bad. I was still in my early teens so the thought of making a recording of it to preserve it wasnt even a thought, heck, I didnt even consider doing things like that until the 2000's... nice to hear it on utube sounding better (by far) than the bootlegged tape version I had :)

Do you remember the set list and gigs date ? If it was on tape and bought at a market then it was a concert bootleg although there was the live concert LP called Press the Eject and Give Me the Tape which could have been recorded for you .

I've still got my Spirit box set, 3 CDs, it's pretty much all the 79-83 vinyl collection stuff, plus the one disc BBC Sessions anniversary set. Essential. The sound is really good on that box too, even though it's really old by now.

Greetings from Warsaw, Poland - behind the Iron Curtain in those times. Pressureworks: Pretty much----they're called the firrst goth band, even though they didn't really call themselves that. Had the chance to see Murphy live performing only Bauhaus music a couple of years ago, and he not only looked good but sounded pretty darn good too. This is the first Peel session I've ever heard by them, so that's cool, too.

@@SteeeveO maybe, but there were several buildings in that style on Upper Mounts/Lower Mounts in Northampton, which would be visible looking north-east from a vantage point on top of the (then) bus station. In fact I think most of them are still there.

I did initially think that the building behind Daniel was the fire station - but then the large building behind David isn't the swimming pool, nor what is now the Charles Bradlaugh pub - & from memory the Chronicle & Echo building was further down the Mounts & not particularly tall. Still - I wasn't here in 79 so you could be right. Cheers.
