I always and will ever be a Bavaria fan but this video of an amazing yacht I give a 2 out of 10
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
Come on, it is one of my best videos. 2 out of 10? Seriously? Ok, after that video Bavaria went bancrupt, but I totally deny any responsibility for that. Maybee it would have been much worse without my great video.

The dinghy garage is 3 meters of space wasted. Useful dry space is always at a premium on a boat so why waste it on a garage when you can hang a dinghy off the stern or on deck? I would also like to see a hardtop either standard or as an option. Most of the time on board is spent trying to stay covered up away from the sun and sunburn. The Bimini is always up on passage so make it permanent.

Jim on 65 feet you have plenty of space for a dinghy garage. It adds a lot of comfort.

Jim, why would you place a dinghy on deck when you can place a couple of beatiful woman there?

Whats your opinion on this boat, I’ve read some things that aren’t to positive with Bavaria,
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for 65 feet, there are indeed many other options on the market that are worth to compare. Also with this big Bavaria you will be above 1 million Euros (about 1.2 million USD). In this price range you also have a Oceanis Yacht 62, which I would consider a highly attractive competitor. However, talking about the smaller Bavarias, then the new designed C series is a better choice than any Beneteau. The quality is very good, much better than on the old Bavarias. And the Italian design is outstanding. They look much more expensive than they really are. I have 2 more videos of them here on my channel.

Looks really nice! How is the build quality?
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
Well, the boat at the show was a prototype and had some flaws. You could see that they finished it under pressure to be ready for the 40-year anniversary of Bavaria. But if the final build quality will be comparable to the new C45, C50 or C57, then there will be no reason to complain. Bavaria introduced a completely new production system for the interior, that allows a much better quality at lower costs.
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
Also if you would visit the new Bavaria R55, you would see the quality that Bavaria is able to build. It is far more elegant than on the sailing yachts. Unfortunately - as the Bavaria marketing team told me - sailors do not expect or even do not want this level of comfort and elegance on a sailing yacht. So they only build it on the motor yachts.

We now got the confirmation from the new Bavaria owner, that the C65 will be discontinued. At least as a Bavaria. The yard got the rights to build the boat under a new brand. But honestly, I see no market for that boat. There are much better competitors out there in the 60+ range.
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
With the insolvency of Bavaria I believe that this model is discontinued and we won't see a second boat. Anyway, this boat never represented the "Bavaria DNA", re-using an old hull from Salona Yachts. So I believe that this video might be the last thing we see from the Bavaria C65.

This is a shame , I think it looked Superb. ...attention to detail and Great Finishes.

It kinda looks like the Beneteau Oceanis 62
@viatormarine4 жыл бұрын
Just by the size. But the Oceanis Yacht 62 has a superior design and a much more functional layout. The Bavaria C65 had some terrible design flaws. You could not enter the boat standing. No headspace in a 65ft boat? It was a good choice from the new Bavaria owners to discontinue this model.

Great boat but I just thing there is a lot of wasted space. Dingy garage can be used for equipment space and things like a diving compressor. Too much wasted space in the lounge/dining area, those two chair and be another solid couch with a slim counter table and holding poles at each end. Last more thing is the garly is too small for this size boat, they could have removed the big shower and made space for the kitchen on the other side and the extended the main berth a bit towards the garly/kitchen. Overall, great boat.
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
The dinghy garage does make sense on a big boat, as it adds a lot of comfort and safety. Regarding the interior layout, I also think that the huge available space could be used more efficient. But those boats are build for a specific market and Bavaria knows what this market demands. It will never be a world cruiser. Anyway it is much too large for this.
@greybeardnharg39925 жыл бұрын
@@viatormarine Why wouldn't be in consideration for a world cruiser?
@viatormarine5 жыл бұрын
It is just too big for a typical crew of 2 people. And it is lacking functionality you may need on a long time cruise. I had a Beneteau 57 cruising the Med. Very comfortable boat, but also too big and too much draft. Many small Greek harbours could not be accessed. And too much maintenance work. We now build 42ft.

Yes, the space and comfort is unparalleled in the Bavaria product line. I love the new C57, but when you come back from the C65, it looks somehow small.

im not a sailor but interior design looks like made for charter companies.i woudnt choose this boat for personal use.
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
I talked to Bavaria about it during the show, because I also noticed, that the interior design at their motorboat range with a similar price tag looks much more luxurious and of higher quality. They told me, that surprisingly most sailors would demand a more basic design on sailing yachts. Personally I believe, if you spend >1M on a boat, you expect the very best quality and an outstanding design. Especially because competitors are offering such design at their 60+ ft. range. So definitively yes, the design does not match the target group. But this might be an obsolete discussion, because I don't think that Bavaria will build a second C65 anytime soon. Even the prototype was just build very quickly for the show and did not yet see the water. Now Bavaria is lacking funds to continue this model.

Beautiful except for the damn plastic laminate looking wood
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
There are a very few yards using wood any more. Even Nautor's Swan are using lightweighted composite panels with a very thin laminate. The reason is weight. Wood is vey heavy, and modern boats are faster also due to less weight. Also composite panels are resistant against humidity. But it is more tricky to use them.
@svgitana24996 жыл бұрын
Volt-At-Sea agree but I still don’t like it at all! Unless you go to the really expensive brands like your Swan where it actually looks good the rest look like an IKEA boat! I much prefer real teak.
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
Well, I had a real teak deck on my Beneteau 57, and it was a never ending job. So my next boat has no teak at all and I can clean the deck in 10 minutes with the high pressure washer. Wood is a wonderful material to work with, but I changed my mind regarding wood on boats.

Yes, the first C65 hat some really bad design failures. Bavaria discontinued the C65 afterwards.

Horrible fake looking wood. Galley much too small. Dinghy garage a total waste. Poorly laid out design.
@viatormarine6 жыл бұрын
Well, first of all you have to consider that this is a prototype, that had to be ready for the show and therefore does not represent the final building quality. The boat was done by the boatbuilders from Salona, because the Bavaria yard has no space for this boat and a land transport is rather complicated. Therefore you would find the same quality as at the Salona yachts. The "fake looking wood" does not give this impression in reality. And believe me, you don't want "real wood" on your boat. I had it on my boat and it is endless work. The galley has a lot of space, not sure what you want to do on a boat. The dinghy garage became a standard on this size of boat. It is indeed very useful and comfortable and the boat looks better without a dinghy hanging around somewhere.
