The reason James switches hands when wielding the pyramid head sword is because the enemy ur locked on to/focused on is more to the right then the left of your character so he switches stances to swing that way instead. If you put that same enemy to the left of center he wouldn't switch he would just swing.

for the sh2 remake they really need to make more places explorable i agree. add more depth and atmosphere, add wierd little rooms with vague notes that make your imagination run wild with what actually happened there, thats what silent hill is all about.

2:34 I really don't wanna be the silent hill um actually nerd but I gotta here. James was actually coming over to Silent Hill to either bury Mary or drive his car in Toluca Lake. When James got to Silent Hill he probably had a mental breakdown from the guilt. The town made him see the letter on what is really a blank piece of paper.

At 2:50:00 when fighting the 2 pyramid heads i think the problem with the attack is the PC port of the game as the original PS2 the controller buttons were pressure sensitive so if you pressed a button half way you got light attack and full press is heavy attack. They most likely did not program it properly on the PC and its just Yolo half the time. Konami for example used the pressure sensitive buttons in Metal Gear Solid where if you press the "Square" half way you will Aim and then full press you shoot. After PS2 Sony did not use the pressure sensitive buttons, only the 2 triggers can be count as pressure sensitive on modern controllers.

The enhanced edition "fixed" this by make tapping the button into the light attack and holding it down into the heavy attack.

They'll never be able to remake this effectively. The casting was a lightning-in-a-bottle situation, especially with Cihi.

It's one of those games where the remake might make the original game rank even higher, not because the remake is necessarily bad, but because it might fail to capture the same mood and vibe as the original.

You never know, I didn’t think they could remake RE4 effectively and now I genuinely prefer the remake to the original. There’s always a chance! I really wish we could get an enhanced og RE and silent hill trilogy release on modern hardware though

@@PointlesslyNecessaryConvos I dunno. I'll certainly give it a chance, but Silent Hill 2's strengths were in it's story, it's atmosphere, its voice-acting, and mood. A lot of which were perhaps due to the limitations of the technology of the time.

You nailed the game of the year discussion; it is difficult to divorce one's own feelings from the conversation. My gauge is to see how many non-gamers are discussing a particular game. You also have to think of the pedigree and history of a franchise. My personal goty was remnant 2...but it's not significant enough in the mainstream to be close. My 73 year old mother was talking about BG3 for fuck's sake.

If this game was like Ascension the cameos would be off the hook. There would've been an awkward cameo in the corner of the elevator after the death of Maria. Then they would've just said something like I'm calling the engineer about this door and then left

What a good and funny run u did there, enjoyed every last bit of it. Sadly i cannot catch u often lately, since i work so much. But there will be coming a time again! Really appreciate what u do as well. No.1 Streamer for me :D P.S.: Silent Hill for ever :3

Yeah I tried a hard mode playthru back in the day while at uni, got stuck at Pyramid Head Chase for like a whole night then gave up, dropped to normal and beat the game in the time it took me to get to the hospital on hard lol Then like 7 years later I found a vid that did it on hard, shooting him never occurred to me cos it is just something you’d never do in normal play. Took me a couple of attempts that same day but I did it then promptly saved and felt satisfied, not finished that run tho cos getting passed that section was enough lol

About the Pyramid Head in the hospital part. Have you tried the PS2 version lately? I haven't played SH2 in a while, but I played PC SH3 not so long ago with the 60fps patch and noticed the final boss is way faster, like if it's speed is tied to the framerate. I put the game on 30 fps, and the final boss has the same speed I remember from the PS2 days. Maybe something similar happens to PH in the enhanced PC version? Since I don't remember that part being so problematic back then.

I had a problem when I played Hard the first time: the double Pyramid Heads battle becomes nearly impossible to win without the sword unless you keep them often in view by using the camera controls. They move faster whenever they’re offscreen. I had not intentionally done this my entire playthrough but the L2(?) control is required in that one situation. Without it, I chewed through absolutely all my ammo and healing even while emulator savescumming. I had to scour the internet to find like 2 posts anywhere documenting this frustration.

I remember when this first came out and it was such a HUGE deal at the time in the video game world. The graphics and sound design were unbelievably good at the time. It showed just what the PS2 (lol) could do. This was terrifying to play back in the day.

There have only been a few games that have come out since that have reached the same artistic peak. I think the ps2 era was probably peak gaming.

yeah it was so big that people were playing it even though they weren't horror fans or silent hill fans, it was just such a leap forward in graphical technology and sound/voice acting.

yea those ps2 pressure sensitive face buttons.. i do miss those but ps2 games not on ps2 can be rough also fuuuuuu 3:08:40 that ending! Every gawsh darn time! I still remember 20+ years ago watching it for the first time with my friend as we beat the game after playing it for a few nights in a row wayyyy back in middle school in his living room on a huge arse CRT. We were both bawlin' like 'dang games will never get better than this' In a way.. that was true. Omfg Bawk, the chat after that comment at the end /facepalm LUL

on f, i think silent hill fans have no idea how good it is that ryukishi07 is going to write it dude's a fuckin legend in psychological horror writing and one of the best when it comes to treating the mentally ill in fiction with care and sympathy when writing them

I wish I could download this :( I’m terrible at this sort of thing. Took me ages to get ps2 emulator and the game working. Game was missing textures and heads etc. Took a whole day sorting it out. And it doesn’t look good on emulator with the film grain :(

So you can download PC version almost risk free from Internet archives I think is what it's called. It's considered abandonware. Then there are videos here on how to download and install enhanced edition mod. I'm not great at it but I managed to get it working just fine. I highly recommend trying to get it going. It's free

What if Maria was Marry the whole time and was just waiting for James to realize it. I mean why else would she follow some guy she doesn't even know? And the crazy thing is James thinks he knew who his wife was, but its too much for him to come terms with that or something. I also wondered if all the other people he meets is also part of his subconcious as well. Like Eddy, Laura, and Angela.

@@bucket77 I remember how I felt when I figured that out. It definitely adds a layer that is more frightening, than the cult crap in the rest of the series. It’s one more reason why SH2 is my favorite in the entire series.

Nowhere even close to the truth. The only people who think Silent Hill is a knock off are those that are incapable of understanding the depth of its plot/storytelling. Nauseating to know someone thinks this enough to say it publicly. Yuck.
