Thanks for that, Willie. I bet the Wee Toon Tellars is still getting a lot of plays at home.

Was this song on a blue CD, I believe on the album there was another song that started off with the sounds of seagulls?

Hi, Snow. I got the song from Eddie Maguire. He ran the bird observatory out at Lossit beyond Machrihanish and lived in The Wee Toon after coming out of the RAF. He made a CD called Bay of Storms which had 10 of is songs on it including this one I have recorded here. His recording does indeed begin with seagulls calling. He actually gave me a copy of the CD when I last saw him a few years ago at the bird observatory. He was a lovely fellow and passed away in 2021. The Courier had an obituary in July 2021 for Eddie. I am an Argyll man, born and raised in Campbeltown and now resident in Dunoon - always Argyll! I had a look at your YT page and enjoyed your version of Blackbird! Thanks for your message.

@@JohnsMandolinUkI visit down there often, the gauldrons is a really special place :) I’m from Campbeltown, I only recently found out about Eddie’s passing which was sad to hear. It’s nice to hear the song again. I’ve been trying to find the CD but wouldn’t know where to look.

A beautiful song and a pleasant performance. Is that Scottish you are singing in?

Toomas, thanks for your interest and kind comments. I see it is twelve years since we posted this one; Derek passed away around six years ago and is still very much missed in our local music scene. The song is full of Gaelic names (many placenames in Kintyre are of Gaelic origin) but otherwise the lyrics are basically English but with my Scottish accent pervading. I was born and raised in Campbeltown and still live in the same county of Argyll.

@@JohnsMandolinUk Glad you recorded it, it's a beautiful memory of the time played together, and the way you do it, both vocal and instruments, sounds good.
