What's up DJ Barr! I have 2 of the swarm wash FX and they are awesome. I do have a question about the wash lights in dmx mode, do you have to be in 18 channel mode to get wash lights all one color? I have a wedding venue and I need to be able to set these in solid color wash until the party gets started. Any suggestions? Thank you

I bought the 5fx as my first lighting fixture and it hasn't failed me yet. I don't think the wash is worth it, because I think it's better to just buy some tripars for washing, they can get more colors. But I've always been impressed by how smart the sound active mode is on these.

I have a swarm 5fx.. I was thinking of getting the adj stinger 2 but there leds are only UV! That's really cool and I didn't know the swarm wash fx light had uv as well as colors! I love uv! Time to sell mine!

I believe the derby is brighter in the wash fx too. I once considered these when I was upgrading. Tho I'm not really a strobe or laser guy. I was considering the wash over the other because I felt the large white strobes were too much and washed out the other effects too much. The wash is cool but I felt they should have not aimed them all in one spot. Like tilt them slightly out in a fan. Idk. That way it makes a wider wash. I passed mainly because I don't want to pay for two features I'd probably never use. Kind of like the gigbar. Strobe and laser is probably never use so why buy a fixture with them. I ended up with two 255 IRC's. Lol. Way more money but probably worth it. Now I'm thinking I should have done some high end scanners.

I'm 13 and I take a HUGE interest into being a DJ. My parents bought me a 15k watt speaker (yes, 15k watt). They bought it at the flea market which caused it to be much cheaper (around $300). The speaker includes built in lights, and equalizer to boost the sound. However, the bass doesn't really support how loud the speaker can go. So in order to do that. I'll need a subwoofer. But at the same time, I'm worried about these darn lights cause they're so good. And I feel like I ask for too much from my parents. Luckily I have around $100+ that I have saved up a while back. So, with that money. I can probably buy some of those items. Maybe a fog machine, if I have enough. Maybe I'll buy the lights shown in there (the wash FX). If not then I'll put it on my wishlist. And hope I get something out of those gifts. edit: holy hell, it's literally been 2 years since i made this comment. I'm 16 now. Can't believe I used to dj with a cheap ass mf "15k watt" speaker. Anyways. I have a much better setup now. Thought I'd share to help inspire beginner dj's who are possibly reading this comment. I have 2 harbinger v2312's (ik, they're not the best speakers. Still on a budget lol. I'm planning to buy better speakers, and maybe a sub. all depends on how consistent I am with my gigs.) I have a chauvet gigbar 2, ddj sr2, shure pga 58, hp envy x360, and livewire xlr's, and trs cables. And that's pretty much it, I have more stuff, but they're not really important enough to mention. I have about 1.1k dollars that I have saved up, and with that money I'm probably going to get new speakers. After that, well...idk what else I'll buy. I guess I'll just start saving up for no reason... Keep grinding guys, you got this!

Check out Bill Fitzmaurice website and build your own horn based subwoofer. Very efficient and pound like hell - save lots of money over commercial offerings. You need DSP to control however, but you still save money and have better bass than most other rigs.

Save your money and get a Chauvet Line Dancer instead. It's not worth the tacky laser nor the SMD strobes. Plus I rarely point wash lights the same direction as effect lights. No one wants to stare into a wash!

Couldn't agree more, I switched to moving heads a few years ago. These lights ruin every picture at the reception because they put dots on everyone. But for club/bar/birthday and so on these are a perfect option for mobile DJs.
