You've got to take the whole picture into account as well, he's got a fidgety leg and a fidgety hand scratching at an itch. When he leans towards her at the end, he's a bit more relaxed because he's seemingly more comfortable with her (a person he's familiar with). To me he's not insecure or shy, rather just anxious.
