Leverkusen have really played a fantastic season and deserved to win today. But Kaiserslautern also deserve a lot of respect for their great run in the cup. As a second division team that fought against relegation until shortly before the end of the season, such a performance in the cup is not to be taken for granted.

That's why it makes no sense for me to always emphasize something negative. In my opinion, they simply deserve to be praised for their performances.

@@socijala Not even close, i guess you never saw any Atalanta game a part from the final....this is just what they do, and they can do it against any team in Serie A, which means they can also do it against any team in the world, look at what they did against Sporting, Liverpool and Marsellie, they are just not consistent enough to win Serie A yet, not to mention that the kriptonite for the way Atalanta play is the highly defensive style something you can find plenty of in Serie A even among the big teams (like Juventus), Leverkusen with their possesion based strategy were, instead, the perfect match up for them with all of the pressing Atalanta do, Leverkusen played bad, because Atalanta didn't let them play or pass he ball at all for 90 min, plain and simple.

I hope they learn. Of course they had the "party" on sunday which might have affected but it was a very poor effort starting from Xabi. No player was good, Tah was ok. Horrible phlegmatic performance. Atalanta were clearly better.

Only great clubs can do the treble like Liverpool in 2001. Their treble is far superior given that 2 of those titles is from the English league. It is much easier to do the treble in the farmers league and yet Leverkusen failed at the European stage.

@jagamerboy6938 Real was able to beat Leipzig only because of 2 big wrong decisions by referee, which even 2 Real players admitted afterwards (that they were very questionable decisions). Agains the Bayern team they needed AGAIN help from referees. The farmers league had 2 teams in the semi of the UCL and it was very very close it would not have been two in the final.

Yes, in comparison to former seasons Bayer Leverkusen could go far this time. But to my mind, the team is much overrated. Too many goals in overtime, the opponent too often outnumbered or an unlucky loser, a weak defensive ... In general, no 1st class team in Europe as the shameful loss against Atalanta Bergamo has shown.
