While running one morning we had an NCO yell "What's that big ass dragon covering up sexton?" I made a joke it was a swastika, found out later that's actually what he covered up. The problem isn’t being proud of being white. It’s the association that comes with the tattoo it’s just not a good look. He could have been a racist sure or maybe he was in prison and did what he to do to survive understandable but don’t turn this into something it isn’t. He more than likely got the original tattoo in prison, he had adapted for survival. To come home get it covered up and be willing to have a conversation about it shows a lot of growth as an individual. Instead of saying you caught a racist old man in Walmart, why don’t you sit down and try to learn and understand his story, he may have had racial prejudices at one time but has since grown, hopefully you too can learn to grow from a boy to a man, respect your fellow humans, show some compassion, and understand as people we all grow and change as different events happen in our lives. Give people the same chance that you’ll one day be asking for and it’s more likely to come back to you, when people see this and how it’s titled, it’ll really seem different to people if a clip manages to come out of you saying or doing something bad, as your building your community to one see the negative in people and not their growth past negative actions or standpoints.
