Bayley Sargeant has been a professional shooter for PSE European and English champion, however she recently switched to Mybo archery.
Bayley on Social media shows the importance of a healthy lifestyel and training to her success in archery.
Social media is one of the biggest drivers in sales. I discuss Pete Shepley giving away hundreds of bows to shooters and the impact that had on his business.
I discuss the my view on the importance of Bayley Sargeant to PSE and how why this switch is important to PSE and Mybo.

Archery in the UK needs some decent influencers on youtube. It seems like archery stores all over the place are closing down. Merlin who make the Mybo seem to be going from strength to strength but their marketing needs some work. Their main HQ is less than an hour from me yet I hear more about their sponsored archers from a guy in Australia than I do from their social media.

Some of these comments demonstrate how many archers have their heads firmly buried in the USA brand marketing sand. Mybo is a successful brand in GB & Europe, & the British WA50/720 record of 716 was with a Mybo Revolution. Bayley Rose Sergeant is now married to Dom Buden, also now a Pro archer for Merlin/Mybo & a big name in world archery.

I'll give her that. Shes very decorative. I know a sponsored archer... He's sponsored by his fave archery shop.... He gets a free string off them... He has to buy everything else, inc his bow shop t-shirt. Im unaffected by who shoots what. It has zero influence on me. I buy archery kit because I like it, it feels nice, its in budget. I dont care who shoots it.

1 compound, 1 Long bow, 2 recurve, 1 horse/Asiatic bow, 4 kids fibreglass bows and 3 working selfbows. Plenty of choice.

Rather than giving away a bow loan them the bow and equipment on the basis of them doing KZbin videos and other media content to promote the brand and your store. In this way you can get the bow back if they don't meet there commitments or you can give it to them as a thankyou if they do well and keep using them.

Mybo is a family business here in the uk. Good quality stuff. They also run a shop Merlin archery. Hard to get American bows in the UK at present. Don’t know why. Maybe the aluminium price has gone up due to the tariffs. Just a guess.😅😅

Dad bought me a *PSE Nova* from a shop in Brisbane _that no longer exists..._ I donated a *MYBO Origin* to the Local Club, purchased from a Tasmanian Store _that no longer exists._ I would gladly wear kit from: Nika; Topoint; & Bosen, because their gear works!

Good perspective. John Dudley gave PSE a LOT of credibility, even though the majority of his social media posts were for his Nock On series with PSE (the Mach 30 being the exception this past year). PSE also produced some excellent bows with Dudley on board. If they continue to produce brilliantly engineered bows, I'll stay with them. I bought my first PSE bow before Dudley came on board, and I did purchase the Levitate. However, I bought the Levitate based on the rave reviews it got, plus I liked the feel of the PSE carbon bows better than I liked what Hoyt was offering at that time. Hoyt has closed the gap with the RX-7 & RX-8 bows, but I am really looking forward to the alleged 36" ATA carbon bow that PSE is allegedly releasing this year.

Never paid much attention to sponsored shooters options on which bow to use or what they use (they are paid to say it). Same pretty much to most archery shop owners videos (with exception to Steven's) most will not bag a product for fear of the company dropping them and every new bow each year is simply the best!

If you look at the big archery retailers here in the U.K. not one of them has a PSE target bow in stock to buy. It’s a shame as they make great easily adjustable bows, my first 3 compounds were PSE bows.

I’ve never shot a Hoyt, I live in Arizona and shoot PSE because it is a local business. But, Hoyt seems to sponsor Cam Hanes. The guy has created a sub-culture of lift-run-shoot and Hoyt has become a “thing” in the culture now. Between the constant pod casts, the fitness, hunting & lifting/working out. He is hugely popular along with Andrew Huberman, David Goggins etc, and they all seem to associate with each other. It does not seem to be a single industry anymore. I have no clue where it goes from here, interesting post.

I don't believe that sponsored archers influence bow sales for any bow manufacturers. It all comes from people/dealers like yourself Stephen that review and give honest opinions.

The people in the bow shops that are selling bows know the ins and outs of the industry though. When mathews released the Title and we got to see stephan hansen light it up with that bow, it definitely made me think of getting one. The target archers definitely influence the target shoppers, but like I said, they also influence the sales guys working in bow shops that know whats going on and who is putting out the best bows. Mathews knows the value in sponsoring big name target shooters... it pays off for them. Hoyt does the same thing. Elite has also kept up with having some good shooters. Darton went from zero to having a ton of pro shooters and almost immediately jumped up a few levels in everyone's eyes... Sponsoring people is not something that pays off directly, but it has an indirect effect. Without having sponsored shooters, there is no sport on a professional level. Sure, the average hunter with a kit bow or even those tac shooters don't necessarily watch the pro target shooters, but again, the guys selling them their bows do. Tac is also a great avenue to increase the target community. It gets hunters out shooting at foam and having fun, then they start to understand how stuff is scored, then maybe watch some indoor shoots like vegas and start to get competitive with their buddies... next thing you know, they want to get a target bow because their hunting bow just doesn't cut it when shooting compound archery in its pure form. The guys that like to shoot a lot of arrows, will eventually end up with a target bow. I have seen it happen over and over again. I think the future for target archery is bright. In my region it is definitely on the rise. Every year since covid our local shoots have increased by 10-20%. Vegas has been continuously rising in numbers as well as lancaster. ASA shoots are getting over 2000 shooters per event with numbers rising. I think investing in shooters definitely carries value. For instance, i like bowtechs bows and their technology... but after the nonsense they pulled on douglas and gillingham, I aint buying one for a loong time... and the funny thing is I was actually on the verge of getting a reckoning gen 2 when that all went down. Glad they showed their colors before I ended up with one of their bows. I am the same way with any sport products. I don't want to own a bike from a company that treats their riders like trash. Same concept with archery.

There seems to be two or three issues - The companies need world class shooters to promote their target Archery kit. They need Influencers to use Social Media to promote the kit in general (hunters in US, target for a large part of the rest of world). They need "good" kit that people want to buy, is it "fashionable", Mathews at the moment with the Title and Lift and the accessories/bling to attach to it (and raise the profit margin ?), the Bowtech Honor with its price tag (for the whole kit)

Chris White still seems to be shooting, with Mathews now I think, he seems to have been an enthusiastic field Archer who also does target (partly for his sponsor or to get ranking points for other interests ?)

I can't help but feel than you handing out bows as a sponsor that you failed to put anything in writing that required the recipient to promote you, or your brand, along with the brand of the bow. That isn't how you market anything. You can blame yourself for that faux pas. You must have an agreement with them a Quid pro quo arrangement. I find Australian business all fail at marketing and end up blaming everything but their lack of marketing planning. If people don't know about you how do they buy from you. One ad is not enough! You need a marketing budget that regularly keeps your brand in the public eye.
