A boodle fight is a meal that dispenses with cutlery and dishes. Diners instead practice kamayan. The food is placed on top of a long banana leaf-lined trestle table and in the true military practice, diners do not sit in chairs but instead stand shoulder to shoulder in a line on both sides of the table.

My father is 91 years old, he told us about our grandfather, they lived in the mountains during the Spanish era, they used banana leaves to eat with their hands because they didn't have plates and cutlery.

Burying salted egg in the mud is such an urban myth. The egg won't last a day in the mud! What they do is simply put the eggs in salt to make them--you guessed it--salty. The red/purple color is just artificial coloring.
