It’s not, nor has it ever been over-sexualized. It simply isn’t a kids’ game, period. And yes, Bayonetta is supposed to be a strong, badass female. And some, supposed, grown adults being unable to handle that seem ironically sexist to me. I own these on Wii U, but will definitely plan on buying again on Switch!

In 2 We Believe He's talking more about how Bayo's sexuality is portrayed than the sexuality itself. Bayo's design is a teenage boy's fantasy. He even goes on to hint at how that aspect being toned down in 2 makes it feel more mature, and I agree. We all know about the intent behind the simple titillation in Bayo1, but that is what it is. It feels reined in a little for Bayo2 and the game is better for it.

Paul Barnes No, it isn't, it extends longevity of games by providing additional challenges, and even then, Sony apparently is implementing a system were they give you in-store credit depending on how many trophies you have. Even if they were pointless (they are not) it doesn't mean it has to stay that way, you could unlock certain themes or something, it's a matter of trying. Sides, if Nintendo is going to charge for it's online service, its the least they can do.

The angel ataack mini game wasn't pointless imo. It helped people get more money, items or buffs. It's also the only way to stack revival items. And it wasn't replaced by muspul whatevers lol. Gamesforus Absolute nonsense bayonetta 2 on Wii U ran smoothly and only had minor framerate stuttering only during big boss battles.The stuttering only lasted about a second and didn't happen very often. I played bayonetta 1 and 2 on Wii U multiple times and completed it and didn't encounter any major framerate problems only minor drops at best.

I mean, you only need to look at some incel boards to see how bad male dysmorphia can be, and the frequency of bulemia/anorexia amongst young boys is comparable to (but not the same as) that of young women. You're right in emphasizing that oversexualization of males is generally pretty accepted, but engaging in whataboutism here doesn't solve anything. It doesn't resolve the commodification of women's bodies nor the damaging normalization of unattainable male beauty. If anything, we should be more critical when we see these things.

I'm on the last chapter on Bayonetta and I have enjoyed the game so far. This really challenged me in a frustrating good way lol...I will say this though, I will beat the trilogy in my own pace...but so far I will NOT PLAY BAYONETTA 1 EVER AGAIN!!! Does anyone actually refer to Bayonettas sexuality as negative anymore? I thought this controversy was pretty done and done a few years ago. I'm pretty sure most people see her as a sexually overt character who is in full consensual control of her body, and uses it to tease others who would otherwise objectify her or control her under some patriarchy or misogynistic means. Look, just because people analyse the work with fem theory, doesn't make the game is a net negative. Fem theory is an analytical lense used to analyse, criticize, and extrapolate any form of media. Even when people point out something as problematic or tropy doesn't mean it's the end of the world or the worst thing ever, it's just, you know, an analysis. Also whoever is playing in the video has terrible combos and needs more practice.

The reviewer gushes over the games, so obviously is not saying the game is a net negative. That doesn't mean that oversexualizing can't be critiqued. Sexualizing women is a big trend in popular society. So when it is done to a totally fictional main character that you control, I think it's understandable that it should be approached carefully. A female character can be very sexual, and if that character is realistic, authentic, well developed, and respected, then that could be a very good thing. On the other hand, if Bayonetta were an empty cartoon caricature protagonist that existed only to titillate boys who control her, that would be something very different.

These are just some problems I have with Bayonetta 2. Button mashing and analog stick wiggling was not needed in the games. There's no challenge to them, you either mash the button (or wiggle the analog stick) or you don't. And at the beginning, you could die at one of them if you didn't pay attention to a cutscene. Thr part where she blocks a giant sword. There also didn't need to be button prompts for torture attacks and the unbran climax. They're common place moves, both use different button combinations and both can only be used with one full big moon pearl. Insteae of combo points, it should have a style meter like the DMC franchise. The only way I know if my combo is bad is at the end of a combat encounter where it shows my results. Combo points shows the number getting bigger, but what does that mean? What number would get me a platinum medal? It's just very vague.

"you ould argue the PC version is better" No, there's really no arguing there. If you're saying the Switch version is better because of shorter loading times, higher framerates and cleaner graphics then of course the PC version is going to be better beyond that.

As per DF, the PC version is the ultimate version of Bayonetta. On consoles though, it's best played on the Xbox One X.
