Bayonetta 3 Developer Diary Episode 3: The Bayonetta 3 Universe

I won't deny that Bayonetta 3 definitely expanded my imagination of the series... but not because of the environments. I actually reference back to the change to Bayonetta as a character with the greater emphasis of "dancing". It helps solidify her as a graceful yet formidable fighter, and the implementation of dance in her demon summoning really nails down the perception of her being a witch or magic caster. Even the Deadly Sin summoning taps into a more ritualistic depiction of her abilities and it shows you that when things get serious, that Bayonetta is no longer messing around. However, I'd say the "cute and mischievous" aspect kind of undoes that in my opinion. When it comes to the environment and world design, I think the thing that has helped Bayonetta stick in my mind is how memorable the settings and design of the previous two games are. The gothic and mysterious atmosphere of Vigrid, to the bright and colorful splendor of Noatun in Bayonetta 2. But for Bayonetta 3, I can't help but feel neutral about all the the settings. This is especially troubling learning that the developers planned for this to be like a 'globe-trotting' adventure using the concept of the Multiverse as a device for it. They say that there has always been hints or themes of a multiverse in the background, but I only ever felt like the story of Bayonetta revolved around the consequences of time travel instead of simply having different universes. Finally, I would say that the overall tone and feel of Bayonetta 3 is messed with because of the multiverse. The stakes are set so high simply by the concept of the multiverse itself, and yet we barely get any time with Bayonetta's multiversal counterparts before they are killed that I can't really get myself to care. And because this is largely just a globetrotting experience, the mulitverse feels even less important in the face of what just 1 entire universe could be by itself. Honestly, I don't know if any of this makes sense to anyone else, and at the end of the day I just look forward to seeing what others may think. :D

2:06 if exploring the multiverse in a deep and rich way only means showing the same 2 characters in 4 different universes and having them die before they can even talk or interact with our main character then I really don't know what you guys are smoking

1:00 ... what happy ending? To most people the ending wasn't happy lol people were angry or sad. If you meant to do a positive ending, it certainly wasn't conveyed to the players. I've had to deep dive analyze your game to show people the ending was happy and people still don't always believe me because to them it showed the end of Bayonetta

Thank you very much for these Development Diary, there are many fans confused about the legacy and continuity of this saga, so it is very valuable to know that there are many ideas to present in future games. However, now that they have the maximum attention, do not miss the opportunity to include some type of DLC, the game says in its information box that it has "integrated purchases", and many of us wonder when they will use that description. It could be new costumes to dress up the character, or even better, a "Tag Climax" mode like Bayonetta 2, many fans met through that mode, even if you could only use Masquerades without being able to use Demon Slave, it would still be very fun to try! try it! Thank you!

The hype I get every time I see these videos is hard to explain, even though its a look behind the curtains of three it still feels like an insight to the games coming after, with Hideki saying he envisions the series to have more games in the future, I can't wait to see how Bayonetta series grows and evolves in the hack-n-slash gameplay.

「いろんな世界のベヨネッタ」を詰め込んだ3 言うなればミニベヨネッタを4作詰め込んだ、みたいな構造なので、そら豪華ですよね マジで手間暇かけて作られてるのがわかる。 表情にこだわって作ってる、というのは言われたら確かにと頷ける作り込みのひとつですね 過去作にあった紙芝居ムービーがほぼ撤廃されたというのも大きいよね

See, multiverse was always around considering timelines being a thing since the first game. I don't know why fans were surprised about that.

The gameplay was a lot of fun, but watching the main character die over and over during the story, pairing her with Luka out of nowhere when he was just a cameo in the second game, adding stuff that didn't make sense in the narrative like Lukaon, literally no character interaction between Bayo and her variants or any dialogue in general between her and luka or viola. The story was such a let down. After how many good things bayo 1 and 2 had to offer the narrative in the third game was such a disappointment. So boring and predictable from start to end. Go to a new universe, see a Bayonetta die in front of you without any interaction between them, a boring gimmick fight with the sin summons, loot the dead bayo's weapon and repeat that 4 times before a rushed finale and see the main character die.
