Smash Bros has alwayse been a kids game, dude. I don't think you can turn Smash into a serious fighting game. It wouldn't be Smash if it was. All they did was add Ryu, Cloud and Bayonetta to a kids game. Even the movesets they gave them are exclusively for this style of game. Bayonetta is just broken though, dispite the way they nerfed her. Bayonetta is just not for this game. She is from a game where you kill monsters and gods with enormous health bars. Adding her to this game with that kind of a move set was a stupid fucking idea. Even if the reason Bayonetta was added to Smash 4 was an attempt to "not make this a kids game", that was a failed attempt if a huge percent of the characters have to struggle this hard just to deal with one character. Adding one, two or three characters doesn't make Smash "not a kids game" if like 90 percent of the characters in the game, not to mention the stages are what they are. This is still a kids game, just with pay to play bullshit added in.

Meta knight was more polarizing than bayo, though. Bayo has few weaknesses, but MK had none. Not only that, but MK was in Brawl, where all chars were shitty except MK and maybe Icies who wobble. MK had like 3 spammable moves that counted as a strategy, Bayo players at least need to learn the combos on all weight classes at the certain percent ranges, etc. A better comparison is more like Melee fox, where a good Fox has nearly no weaknesses but isn't inherently OP.

Bayo can be more broken in certain scenarios, like the almost time out in the end where he died within 5 seconds while being at zero. Brawl Meta Knight was just a better character, he always had an option. His neutral game is SO much better than any character we've ever had. Bayo has an ungodly punish game. You can always die, no matter the percent or where you are. Meta Knight was also so good because of the game he was in. If he was in melee or sm4sh he would be less dominating. Still the best character, just by a much less extent. He was really the only fast character in brawl, other characters had a similar run speed like captain falcon, but they lacked the frame data and recovery options to really go somewhere with it.

Anyone who considered this smash game balanced had no clue what they were talking about. I went to locals regularly for this game and I can tell you that the top 5 characters in that game shut down pretty much all of the cast and it was the elephant in the room that no one wanted to talk about. If you didn’t main a top 15 character, you weren’t going to get any great results and you would go to a local to get 2 stocked by randoms that haven’t been playing but a couple months. I loved the game but it had issues mainly with its balance.

its more or less what happens when a concept designed for non serious gameplay is forced into a competitive environment, no matter the ruleset or the options the developers make, it never gonna be completely balanced because at its core its still a party game.

it's actually funny because in melee, fox is obviously more powerful than the rest of the cast but still no.1 player mains peach, no.2 player mains jigglypuff and in the top ten best players of 2017 there were 2 main C.Falcon, 2 main sheik and a main pikachu. only 3 of the top ten are main fox and falco. In my opinion that's what makes melee the most balanced game on the franchise. (eventhought outside of top ten everyone plays fox)

@@qiaowee3401 I would love to see how well you perform with her, but based on your attitude I can already guess that you've never touched her even once and are talking out of your ass. As a Bayonetta main, I can tell you that it took me months of consistently playing as her to even begin feeling comfortable playing as her. It took me some extra months to actually win consistently against players that know what they're doing. So while she's not completely useless and has some pros and evident strenghts, to say that she's braindead is factually a lie. Mind you, I'm talking about Ultimate, not Smash 4.
