The insane thing is, this is actually a combat BGM. Bayonetta, the main protagonist, mows down through a horde of weak enemies in the prologue battle with this playing, and it also plays during the final phase against the final boss. It kinda work as Bayonetta's theme, showcasing how glamorous she is while kicking ass. On a side note, Fly Me to the Moon is famous in the west for being sung by Frank Sinatra, while in Japan it became prominently famous for being the end credits theme song for the anime 'Neon Genesis Evangelion', sung by an English singer Claire Littley.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6nMYaaLpbGJiMU This is the Claire Littley version. Most Japanese are accustomed to this version so they'd just assume that this is originally sung by a female vocal.

Whoa, my internet search just revealed that Frank Sinatra was NOT the original version, and it was a cover as well! kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5TanXqgebOeodk It was originally sung by Kaye Ballard, and the original title was 'In Other Words' So it was originally sung by a female vocal after all.

These over-the-top action games... They are not necessarily about killing enemies in the most efficient way possible. They work kind of like a dance where the enemies are your partners. You want to eliminate your enemies, but above everything else you want to look cool and keep the pace way up. So it's not that out of place to call Bayonetta a rhythm game.
@thalesn

Each game (except for the slot machine game and the movie) has a song sung by Frank Sinatra with the word Moon in it featured. So far we have Fly Me To The Moon, Moon River, and Moonlight Serenade. Definitely recommend them if you haven’t seen them yet. Fits the character too do to her sensual nature and moon symbolism being tied to the Umbra Witches.

Did you know that the one by Frank Sinatra is actually one of the many, many covers of Fly Me to the Moon? It was originally written by Bart Howard and first recorded by Kaye Ballard in 1954. He usually gets credited with the song because his cover is the most popular one. Edit:Looks like someone beat me to it in the chat! I didn't catch this live, so I missed it.

Bayonetta in Lore has a connection with the Moon so they use a lot of songs that talk about the moon for her theme in each game. Her theme in Bayonetta 2 is Moon River and I believe her theme is also Moon themed but I don't quite remember what it's called. Also since I brought it up I suggest checking out Moon River from Bayonetta 2.

This is sung by Helena Noguerra who also did 'Scent of Love' for the Bayonetta Pachinko Slot game that isn't seen outside of Japan--her vocals are just so charming and I definitely wish she had been kept on for the sequels. My love for Bayonetta is always enhanced by the love songs remixed for an elegant assbeating

I think Platinum was founded by a bunch of guys who were previously part of Clover Studio, who were part of capcom. They made games like Viewtiful Joe, Okami and Godhand... But before that, some of the leaders of Platinum worked on other games, like the Resident Evil Games and Devil May Cry... Bayonetta has strong similarities to the Devil May Cry games... I think there are references to the first DMC in it... The guy in charge of Bayonetta was heavily involved in that first DMC game... That said, it plays more like later instalments... I'd say the overall style is most like DMC3, with the over the top, silly, yet badass action... Bayonetta is like a version of Dante... But where Dante is extra male, she is extra feminine... While Dante is the rock n roll demon warrior, Bayo is more of a funky/jazzy, femme fatale, witch, dancer... Hopefully that makes sense lol.
@windsgrace688
@windsgrace688 Жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, there certainly is DNA from all those games in Bayonetta. The overall action and scoring system is similar to Devil May Cry. Bayonetta's signature time slowdown can be seen in Viewtiful Joe. The button mashing in the executions and certain special moves are probably influenced by God Hand. And Bayonetta's panther/cat form has design elements from Amaterasu in Okami, notably the front shoulders and the trail of flowers when she runs. There's also references to Assassin's Creed, Sonic, and Resident Evil 4 in Bayonetta 1. So, they definitely aren't afraid of taking inspiration from basically anywhere they want.

Just going back through my most favorite songs on you've listened too on your youtube just to jam out. But some of my favorite covers for songs are ones that just completely act like they own it and the song was theirs. Had you never heard this song before, it wouldn't really seem or feel out of place for the game, because it fits so well with the rest of the game's soundtrack. Covers that completely change the mood of a song just get the waterworks going because how amazing it is to see such a change. Like I Prevail's cover of T-Swift's Blank Space, making the more darker subtexts be much more upfront and direct. Covers can be so creative, and I Friggin' love em.

Bayonetta 1 was published solely by Sega (before Nintendo took on the IP) and as such, features numerous references to classic Sega games, including fantastic remixes in the same jazz/dance style as this (or "Infinite Climax Mixes" as the game calls them) from Outrun, Space Harrier and After Burner! :)
@NightwalkersReprisal

The big thing about Bayonetta's combat music is that since these were some of the same people that worked on the Devil May Cry games, they wanted to make an action packed soundtrack that didn't include what was considered typical of the genre, drums and electric guitar for a heavy rock/metal theme. So instead they went with an upbeat jazz/pop style for Bayonetta to match her flamboyant and stylish fighting style. This rendition of Fly Me To The Moon plays in the beginning of Bayonetta 1 as Bayonetta herself is flying through the air, shooting angels with four guns, pistol whipping them, throwing them into each other, and otherwise kicking all sorts of divine ass, before landing and strutting across the top of some tombstones saying "As long as there's music I'll keep on dancing!" This song is what helped propel the game into its iconic status, along with the personality and style of Bayonetta

I can't express how much I'd love to see you react to more Bayonetta music. It is literally my favorite game series of all time, and the music in all the games is so amazing. Some other Bayonetta suggestions: Bayonetta 1: Mysterious Destiny, Riders of the Light, One of a Kind, Battle for the Umbra Throne, The Heavies, You May Call Me Father, The Greatest Jubilee, Time for the Climax!, Let's Dance Boys Bayonetta 2: Moon River - ∞ Climax Mix, Tomorrow is Mine, The Lumen Sage, Friendship, The Great War - Land Battle, Aesir, Let's Dance Boys - 2nd Climax Version; and there are several tracks that were "upgraded" from 1: One of a Kind, The Heavies, Time for the Climax! and seeing as I am still playing through Bayonetta 3, I'm not going to go looking for the OST track names at the moment, but I will try to remember to come back and either update this post or, if you do more Bayonetta videos, post comments on those, with Bayo3 OST recommendations.

Imagine this: A 7 foot tall amazon woman with skintight black clothes (yes it’s something more but let’s just leave it at that for him to understand😂), red guns in each hand and on both heels (that she can fire yes, don’t ask why, it’s just that way). This women then proceeds to punch and shoot the shit out of any and all Angels she comes across and kill them in… let’s call it creative ways all the while this song playing in the background while this is happening… yeah (it’s also just the regular battle theme against grunt Angles) . Oh yeah and she is also a Witch contracted with Demons, but even though she fights Angles and uses Demons herself she isn’t a bad guy, far from it. In Bayo 3 she is the last defense of humanity against divine threads, although humanity itself doesn’t know that.

They changed the song around to fit the tone of Bayonetta by making it sound more fast paced, bouncy, and even a little seductive which works great for a character and game series like Bayonetta. Plus the original version by Frank has an air of class to it which also fits with the character of Bayonetta cuz even though she is a little bold and crass at a lot of times she is still a very classy and dignified lady and she knows it so this and the other Moon songs from the other games are a great fit for her. Also the original versions of the songs can be heard in the end credits of their respective games.

Nier is the strangest comparison to make since the series is older than that and it's more akin to Devil May Cry (some of the same original creators). So DMC is a better comparison and Nier eventually got some of the Bayonetta mechanics since Platinum also made Automata for Square-Enix.
