I personally find problems inside the family the toughest of all. Because of you want to please Allah SWT you should never let go and abandon the family or cut ties. Especially if they are your parents. It's a great test and may Allah give us the strength to pass it.

@dawah_sister_1 sister as someone who has been in a toxic abusive family since I was born and now I'm almost 25 I say Allah does not burden a soul more than it can bear, it's all a test, and nothing lasts forever....how many oppressors walked this earth and now they are beneath it as if they never existed.... So patience is key sometimes this is the harsh reality... Patience is not impossible knowing the clock is ticking and days are passing and time does not have mercy on anyone... So... I hope this helps because I wish I heard this when I was younger

Takeaways from the video: 1. Do not associate Batil with your family members who have caused conflicts, because their views, ideas, and character can change 2. Maintain hope in Allah, that the problems in your families can be solved 3. Try to look at the bigger picture to all conflicts in your families, and contemplate on solutions to the problems within the family 4. Be grateful to Allah for not only the existence of your family, but the relationships that you have with your families, regardless if they are bad or good. 5. Remember your purpose in life

It also depends how you define severing ties. You can keep a healthy distance but still keep them in your dua, or send help when needed. Being concerned about their welfare (even when you are not physically present) is not severing ties i believe. 🙏✨

This is definitely one of the best khutbahs in a long time. On the other hand there were some assumptions made that need to be made plain. One assumption is that to exercise or experience Allah's favor or blessing it's important to acknowledge or be aware of the stories we make up about other people. Other people say and do what they do and we have an opinion or a judgment about it and then we impose that opinion or judgment on them and use that opinion and judgment to determine our behavior towards them. If we're not clear on that and we fall into or rather we are not accepting or exercising Allah's blessing.

If we do good it will give us good... If we do bad... The bad will come to us... Allah loves us that's why He always make us to make it... I grew up with a very abusive father both physically and mentally. My father traumatized my whole life. My father hit would beat on my mother and us (me and my siblings). Every memory I have of my father are just memories I don’t wish upon any child. I stopped talking to my father. I tried to forgive him but I know if I let him back into my life the abuse will continue. Everyone I know tells me I’m a bad muslim for this and I should let him abuse me and my family. I know that Islam would never be okay with men like my father and that’s all I need.

There are times when I feel the "reality" is so harsh, I tend to run from reality by believing in "fiction (baatil)" such as movie/cartoon etc (it's just an act/lies). I think I was lacking patience to face reality and to forgive. May Allah help me. The hope to be forgiven is what makes me feel stronger to move on. I find this topic a really interesting one and always have always learned a lot from Nouman Ali. I get what you are saying in this speech and it is very good advice; however it doesn't take into account the fact that no matter how many meetings you have with some family members to address issues of concern to establish peace, the outcome isn't going to be a desired one and actually nothing is going to be resolved. Even if you sit down and have a conversation with some people, always being respectful, people that are narcissistic are going to avoid accountability and responsibility for any hurt or pain that they have caused. In my experience, it is best to acknowledge that these people are the way that they are and Allah knows best; but for your own peace and mental health, just pray for these people but keep your distance. This way, you can't keep getting manipulated and gaslighted by these people and you're protecting yourself from ongoing abuse.

same here! i was crying in prayer today saying all the things said in the video 'why did I get a mother like that' after finally learning that she is a narcissist. However much I try to not see her with batil she constantly reaffirms to me through her actions that she is an unyielding narcissist. I will try to implement the things said in this video though it will be tough. I do believe once I get enough space from my mother it will help heal things and perhaps improve my perspective of her and improve our relationship. I think in these cases keeping a good amount of distance from such people is key.

I've come to realize that a narcissist being a person with multiple masks, it corresponds to the description of Munafiqun in the quran, and so in that aspect I started reading quran to seek guidance on how to deal with Munafiqun, and there is plenty in the quran. Surat Al Anfal, Yusuf, Al-Imran and even Al-Tawba have so much advice for that regard. May Allah guide us and help us.

A Father who was a strong sociopath narcissist and then raised a selfish dumb son who married a dangerous, meek acting narcissistic. They isolated my children and Myself marked us as dirty people. My children have been cut off from famlly. In the end it’s better bc they could of poisoned my kids against me. Meanwhile btw this toxic family acting they are as perfect as possible Muslims. So although I am broken inside I feel blessed I saved my kids and we are blessed with following Islam and my kids get a chance to experience peace. Allhamduallah

Sorry to read that. We are human and cannot endure everything. Allah does NOT like Injustice.

I've cut my sister off because she has hurt me in lots of ways. It's clear to my family and friends that she's done me wrong. I haven't done anything to cause her mistreatment of me, nor have I sought revenge. I stopped talking to her, and I no longer consider her family. I have forgiven her in the eyes of Allah, but I will never forget the deep hurt she's caused me.

Cute cat! Do you think you can talk to your sister, tell her how you feel, and try to restore your relationship!

Sometimes even a car doesn't do what you want it to do it breaks down. An apple can go off etc so it is best to practice gratitude towards everything Allah azzwajal gives us and; this isn't easy we can be tested with smallest of things.
