How Duaa Works - Khutbah by Nouman Ali Khan

We have this common belief that when we make duaa, Allah will immediately solve our problem, otherwise He is not happy with us. In this khutbah, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan teaches us that this can’t be further from the truth.
A simple look at the trials of all the messengers of Allah will prove it: Prophet Nuh made daawa for 950 years, but those closest to him never followed; Prophet Muhammad made duaa for his uncle, but Abu Lahab continued to fight him; and Prophet Yacoub cried so much over the loss of his son Youssef that he lost his eyesight.
The story of Maryam is another inspiring example. She was in such shock when the angel told her that she will have a child - to her this was the worst punishment - that she prayed to Allah that she would rather die than face humiliation in her community. As it turns out, the child who caused all that grief, Prophet Esa (AS), was the reason she is being honoured until today, hundreds of years later.

this lecture summarises as follows: 1) Duaa is not a cry for a want that gets answered immediately. It just an act of communication with Allah that increases your trust, faith and reliance upon him regardless of whether you get what you wanted immediately or at all. 2) The Quran is filled with real and significant stories of the Prophets before us who went through the same, if not worse, trials than ours. Their duaas are also mentioned. Some got answered immediately (Musa AS's mother) some got delayed until later (Yusuf AS's father). 3) Sometimes a small difficulty of ours can help others in a big way. It can be a means for khayr in a much larger way.It serves a greater cause and you will be sadaqah jariyah for them. 4) Maryam AS went through the worst trial in relation to dignity and honour. Her duaas always used to get answered immediately. Until one day she realised her biggest blessing would bring a trial in another way. Nevertheless Allah always honours her. Every time Isa AS is mentioned he is referred to every time as "Isa son of Maryam". This trial serves as a reminder for other women who go through similar trials. No matter how much people try to hold you back, speak bad about you and put you through difficulty, have solace in the fact that your creator will never reduce you in honour and dignity.

Alhamdulillah, thanks Ustahd Nouman for such wonderful lecturers like this so enlightening. 3days ago when i was riding in a bus going back home. a man come up in that bus and all of a sudden he is throwing bad words to the driver who is from other country like me and he sat across the seat where i was. bus aisle is in between me and this man as he was sitting he still saying bad words to all other nationality in this country, i got so scared because he mention muslims and those ladies who had scarf in their heads, of course i am one of them obviously i wore my hijabs. at the back of my mind this man can easily hit me for i am so close to him. good thing the man went off from bus in the next bus stop. in my sujood i cried a lot, for i know Allah with me all the time look after me always to keep me safe. I am a newly reverted muslim for only ten months and this what i am encountered in my journey, but i said to Allah no matter bad happens ill stay muslim and i will die muslim. hope Allah continue to guide and protect me inshaallah

Conceal your sins Keep them between you and the almighty never tell anyone your mistakes only to Allah On the day of judgement some people will say to Allah once they are given the book on the right hand oh Allah We have committed sins where are they and Allah will respond to them by telling them i have wiped all your sins because you have hidden them while you were alive i have concealed them today too. Allah does not like anyone who commit sins and show off to other people, however he will help you to get rid of your sins as long as you keep praying sincerely and devoutly. SubhanaAllah.. I came to the right video. This is really my current situation right now. I was so depressed why my dad passed away when I'm still lacking. I want to make him proud but he left me first. I pray to Allah everyday to give me opportunity to repay my parents but my dad go to Allah first even before I do anything to him.. For 3 years I've been searching for job but didn't get any call. I was so depressed. I'm the eldest the daughter. I have my sister & brother to take care now but still didn't get proper job. Where did I did wrong. Why Allah didn't answered my prayer. I forget Allah has better plans. May Allah open the opportunity for me to be a good sister and daughyto my family.. Aamiin

That is exactly what I have been going through. Allah never let me down in any way, but recently, I felt like I had done something wrong so my praying kept increasing and increasing, until I am physically unable to pray at that level anymore. i also had same thoughts like that sister. After my mother's death i started to believe strongly that i made complaints to Allah regarding my mother's death that's why Allah is not listening me. and i was on verge to give up dua and prayers. I thought there is no point in making dua im done but then i got to see Sir Noman's videos and this khutba really put me to ease. Now i am paying attention to my prayers and duas. May Allah preserve Sir Noman and Bayyinah! Jazakallah! im very grateful to Allah and Sir Noman.
