If every town has that one retired adventurer, that hung up their swords and spells to run a tavern or set up a temple to their deity, Bazzoxan has all the ones forced into retirement. The lone survivor from almost TPKs. The team that no or will hire because they blew their last job. When the alarm goes up across the town, half the town shuts down for safety, and the other half shuts down because the business owner is dragging out a great sword and shouting “Finally some action!”

I love the idea of a giant man covered in scars, missing an eye here to just fix your shoes. All while everyone is like "yeah, Ol' Harold had seen some stuff. Only cobbler to ever kill an arch demon and make shoes from it's tanned hide"

I'd love a campaign revolving around this. Crafting magic items from foes you vanquish, or seeking out and destroying cursed items created this way, etc.

@@spartaneternal8423 ok this might be a bit dark, but... The shoes like the taste of blood. A little bit too much. You can't ever stop walking again. It gets to a point where is too much, and you can't take it anymore and cut them off. You cut off your feet and shoes... And they keep walking.

Throwing this out there: a mini campaign set in Bazzoxan that has adventurers diving into the temple like it's the Monastery from Diablo II, with all the different layers and stuff... I'd play the hell out of that!

My Wildemount campaign is headed in to Bazzoxan this weekend. I love this concept and have kinda weaved it into the conflict between the Dynasty and the Empire. The dynasty isn't just trying to keep the monsters at bay... They are trying to train them.

@@JoshEssex well they wound up infiltrating bazzozan to find it is basically the dynasties "Afghanistan". A forever conflict that sucks up resources because parts of the dynasty are trying to weaponize the monsters with some success. After a lot of effort, they managed to greatly set back the dynasties efforts. In the process they found some bread crumbs to the larger plot of the children of malice trying to heat up a cold war between the dynasty and the empire.

Man, imagine a Critical Role video game set in Bazzoxan. It could be a Dark Souls-style, with a dungeon that you are constantly exploring and expanding and the town serving as a hub area. Except the town would occasionally serve as a dungeon as well during the periodic demon invasions.

I was inspired by Bazzoxan during the campaign but this video made me push to finish my inspired version of the town in my Homebrew. Its literally got enough hooks that I think I have months worth of dungeon crawling sessions for my players. Dope!
