Idk how you can be a fan of this show and see Amber getting evicted for very politely rejecting Caleb’s advances bc his ego was hurt but then also be like “America should just not flirt back with Cam!!!” as if Cam is not clearly also the type of man to retaliate against someone that has hurt his ego even if it’s not good for his game (see his last HOH?). Like Cam has been a creep since day 1. I’m not sure why how America chooses to navigate that or interact with him in a house that they are stuck in together for an indefinite amount of time changes that fact.

One important confounding factor for competition win rates is that people who win the season are likely to win comps just because they play more comps. Season 17 had 36 hoh or veto winners and exactly half were women. It also ended up that the final 4, 6, 8, and 10 were all an even split of men and women. Were the genders split more evenly because the comps were less man-favored or were the comps more evenly split because there were the same number of men and women playing for a lot of it? It’s obviously going to be a bit of both. Compare this to the seasons around it like 16 where the final 5 was 4 men a woman taken on purpose because she was not really a huge comp threat (Victoria), where men win almost all of the last comps. The men completely won out after the last other woman (Christine) left in a double eviction week. Here the men are clearly winning because there are more of them, not just because the comps favor them. However, we have to ask what types of comps lead to such a man-dominated end game. Imo, a stat that compares how an individual player’s chance to win a comp (which would be 1/n if it was truly random) improves or decreased based on their gender would be much better at actually comparing these stats, rather than just looking at raw man v woman win percentage. This also paints a lot more blame on the comps themselves and not the social reasons that many seasons often take out many perceived “weak women” in early weeks. As an extreme comparison, no black contestant won a comp in season 15 or 21 and it’s not because the comps were unbalanced for them. tl;dr there is clearly a problem with comps and I hate how much the endgame has turned physical. However, because wining comps usually lets you stay around to play in more comps, win percentage is not a great stat to use to analyze how bad the balance really is.

People want to defend the creepy dude so badly. The same one that has repeatedly made comments equating Reilly and America to his young daughter AND dropped suggestive remarks about those same women. The whole house can see his weird behavior. I really don’t want the women in the jury house to be stuck in there with him. And I’m sure he would take it really well if America stopped giving him attention…that would never backfire on her in a social game. To all the comments saying America invited him to shower…you mean when she made a joke saying ‘are you going to get in’ because he was standing there watching her shower? Joking is a common defense mechanism. That moment, especially taken out of context, doesn’t mean she is now subject to any and all of his inappropriate behavior and should take it. Like wtf at these actual comments. There’s a big picture here and it’s Cameron’s pattern of being a creep and a misogynist. But so many people will bend over backward to give the white dude comp winner any benefit of the doubt.

I feel for Cory too in this situation and understand his comment "why can't I just play big brother" came from a place of stress dealing with his first serious relationship in such a challenging environment. After they cuddled in the rope swing bed, cory told meme the relationship stuff isn't effortless for him, and I think he's tried to vaguely explain and/or hinted to America that he's inexperienced and never connected with someone the way he does with her. I wish that alone would tell her that he thinks so highly of her and cares. America's shown she needs direct/open communication from him (maybe to reassure her and address a potential insecurity that it wasnt just her pursuing him) and meanwhile, Cory is shy and reserved (like come on America, remember asking felisha to help him stop fist bumping her a month ago!? & that he's not the one to ask girls out) so he's not going to initiate the relationships conversation, especially with his own insecurities too..and I really hope he doesnt feel bad about that especially with the Cam situation too, it's not easy to navigate it in a social game where they could be targeted

Thank you Taran for standing up for women! I'm worried about America if she's in the jury house with Cameron. BB NEEDS to step in and step up. And thank you for putting together and talking about the stats on women winning comps and winning the game. Maybe it's time for Big Brother to go away if they won't make a change. I've been a devoted fan since Season 2, but given this season and those stats, that fandom may be over, just like it was with the Red Sox after they traded Mookie Betts to the Dodgers. This is a very long season. BB needs to fill in that extra time so they are bringing back all these players. Lots of ''fluff'' in this season. I hope Cameron wins in the end. The rest of the staff, IMO, do nothing but spill their guts to each other, go back on forth and can't make up their minds. It's so boring. I don't even watch the feeds. America knows Cam has a thing for her. She also knows she (seemingly) has no intention of starting any sort of romantic/sexual relationship with him, at least not anytime soon. Yet she still continues to flirt with him, and at times low-key imply that she's interested. How is that not mean to Cam? Like I get it, obviously Cam's behaviors are much worse on an objective scale, but can you all really say what America is doing is without fault? Look, we have come so far in our culture in recent decades in understanding the unfair positions women have been put in for far too long. Hell go back even 10 or 15 seasons on this same show and the situation with Cam/America would have been laughed off as oh isn't Cam so quirky in his horniness lol (*cough*Caleb*cough*). And thank god we have turned around and are starting to acknowledge the struggles women have to go through and are slowly working to correct those many backwards perspectives on gender and sex. But. . . But sometimes people can then have a tendency to go a little too far in the opposite direction, and assume women can do no wrong. And I get it, especially in a situation where a man *is* straight up behaving very poorly it can be tempting to assume the woman involved must obviously then be entirely a victim. But being a victim of one person's bad behavior does not absolve you from also behaving (somewhat) badly yourself. She is intentionally dangling a carrot in front of him when she knows he really wants the carrot, and knows she's never going to give it to him. That's bad. Maybe a bit too nuanced for this forum, but think about it.

Uh yeah, sometimes we have to mildly change our behaviors in order to accommodate others. Which again does not mean Cam's *creepiness* should be accommodated, but in the instance of him liking her and her not liking him yes, sometimes you have to tone it down so as to not make things confusing/weird. Like imagine if it was the same scenario except the guy with a crush on America isn't also being super creepy towards her. If it was just some nerdy shy guy who made it clear that he had a crush on her, and she definitely didn't feel the same. If that was the situation and she knowingly kept flirting with him, wouldn't that seem cruel? Like it was leading him on or giving him false hope or making it confusing as to whether or not she was actually interested? And so isn't it then within the realm of reasonability to think that in that circumstance she should be able to restrain herself from flirting quite as much to provide clarity on their relationship? I think if America sat down and told Cam straight up "I'm not interested, I'm with Cory, I like you as a friend but nothing is going to happen between us" it would go a long way towards quelling the situation. But as it stands she's de facto knowingly playing into his delusions and making it seem like there could be something between them. She doesn't deserve to be creeped on but it's also like girl, stop throwing gasoline onto this fire.
