Wow, this podcast is hard to listen to at times just because of how unbelievable America's situation is and everything extraneous that she has to put up with. Shit like this is why I like Big Brother live feeds, though--if there were no live feeds this whole situation would be swept completely under the rug. I'm actually thankful in a weird way that this is happening on Big Brother because it's shedding light on a phenomenon that countless people, especially women, have had to suffer through in silence over the years. Wishing America all the strength and resolve I can.

Honestly Izzy comes across as a fake feminist. She's feminist when it's a hypothetical woman in a hypothetical situation, but the second it's ACTUALLY happening to a woman she knows (by a man she already thinks is creepy and doesn't like!), oh well she smiles a lot and she gossips. I remember her making comments about Reilly "not being that pretty" in response to somebody else calling her pretty too. I just hope when Izzy, Jared, Cameron, Red leave the house they are grilled about these comments.

Slurs of all kinds are harmful. NOT all southern country boys are rude, woman hating people. My late husband was a good ole' southern country boy and he was very respectful to me and taught our four sons to be polite and respectful to their women folk and they have taught my grandsons to also be respectful and caring loving people to women. So just remember NOT all southern country males are like Cam and Red. They are VERY poor examples of how the south raise their country boys/men!!!

Kirsten saying "I can't believe we're still here." I so agree with that. We come into each season with high hopes, thinking that casting MUST have gotten it right this time. Based on the personalities in the house, I would think that would have been hard to hide from the casting process. It's so ugly and nauseating. These people should not have any kind of platform. Many are awful humans. I try every year to watch the show and can never get beyond the first episode when the truth starts coming out. I enjoy listening to Taran and company though. And the advantage with mother and son takes so much fun out of the game, for me.

Whilst we should be incredibly clear that we cannot equate the n word to other slurs due to the extensive and specific history of the word and its proximity to slavery, we should also acknowledge that ableist slurs (or indeed misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic etc slurs) are part of the same systems of bigotry, and not actioning this inevitably sends a message that certain bigotry (and the language associated with it) is more acceptable. The long and short of it - the ableist slur isnt the same as the racial slur, but both are gross and both should be actioned. Great podcast both as always

Very nicely said. I would also say that calling someone a misogynist etc can be considered a slur if they are not one. These words are thrown around far too frequently today. That said, Cam definitely is one of those. Also, my daughter has autism. Both Jared and Cam can go.

Edit: I looked it up and it said “R-word”, so then I had to look up what that meant. 🤷🏾‍♀️ That word was used normally when I was growing up, so I think a lot of people don’t feel any sort of way about it depending on how it’s used. If I (a 90s kid) didn’t know what R-word meant, than I think that word is still transitioning out. I could be wrong though. I’m not on Twitter/X or TikTok or Reddit and stuff so who knows what people talk about there.
