HARDtalk on the Road has journeyed to the tiny, oil rich West African nation of Equatorial Guinea for an exclusive look inside one of Africa's most controversial regimes.
For the past 33 years the country has been ruled by President Teodoro Obiang; his critics accuse him of systematic corruption and repression, he describes himself as a champion of African development.
Thanks to an oil and gas bonanza Equatorial Guinea should be, per capita, one of the wealthiest nations on earth. In fact most of the population lives on little more than a dollar a day. Why?
Stephen Sackur and HARDtalk go on the Road in Equatorial Guinea.
