What they didn't tell you about the story of the wounded German soldier marooned in the railway carriages from the Russian front,was that come the following morning all the occupants of the carriages had frozen to death overnight.This is not the first time I have heard a report of this happening to injured soldiers being transported from the Russian front.

Some German soldiers had their eyelids frozen off, so that blinking was no longer possble.
